CBRE Chief Bldg Engineer Supervisor in Greensboro, North Carolina
About the Role:
As a CBRE Chief Building Engineer Supervisor, you will supervise the team responsible for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general building repairs on retail sites within the area. You will ensure the team meets key performance indicators (KPIs), adheres to budgetary goals, and maintains a proactive, service-oriented culture.
What You’ll Do:
Team Leadership & Staff Development
Track training and development of staff; conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching.
Oversee recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new employees.
Coordinate daily team activities, establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff.
Mentor and coach team members to build technical and professional capabilities.
Conduct regular team meetings to reinforce standardized processes and procedures.
Train and onboard new hires, ensuring readiness with tools, PPE, and training.
Manage timecards, PTO requests, and technician headcount reporting.
Develop and maintain technician on-call schedules and approve expense reports.
Operations & Work Order Management
Review, prioritize, reassign, and re-code work orders (WOs) to optimize performance and budget.
Collaborate with Facilities Coordinator to manage WO reassignment and vendor coordination.
Monitor WO status in ServiceChannel and address escalations promptly.
Support technicians with parts, tools, and technical resources, and approve requests for new or replacement tools and equipment.
Participate in WO grading and provide feedback to technicians.
Create child WOs and self-generated WOs as needed.
Lead monthly planning to ensure completion of preventive maintenance (PMs).
Budget & KPI Oversight
Drive regional teams to meet account KPIs and budget targets.
Maximize self-performance and manage aging WO inventory.
Control overtime budgets and evaluate reassignment impacts.
Develop material and labor cost estimates for WOs, PMs, and projects.
Balance WO volume and cost by strategic reassignment to third-party vendors.
Quality Assurance & Safety
Actively participate in the Quality Assurance Program and conduct monthly store inspections.
Review completed WOs for quality and compliance.
Recommend technician training and professional development.
Ensure technicians follow safety procedures and conduct regular equipment and PPE checks.
Complete all assigned Store QA Inspection PMs and provide direct feedback to technicians.
Provide field support for complex jobs and travel to meet technicians as needed.
Respond to regional emergencies and act as on-scene commander for disaster response.
Strategic Leadership & Communication
Apply advanced knowledge to improve operational methods and achieve departmental goals.
Lead by example and model behaviors aligned with CBRE RISE values.
Communicate complex ideas effectively and influence stakeholders across disciplines.
Contribute to the development of new processes, standards, and operational plans.
What You’ll Need:
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office and Apple products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Service Channel experience is a plus.
Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
Highly sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate somewhat complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

Turner & Townsend carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $125,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $150,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on Turner & Townsend’s applicable benefit program.
