Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of heavy-duty industrial and hydro-excavation equipment. This position ensures that customer and operational requirements are met through effective system design, validation testing, and performance analysis. As a central technical resource, the engineer supports manufacturing, quality, sales, and marketing to introduce innovative, reliable, and cost-effective equipment to the market.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new systems and components for hydro-excavation and other heavy-duty industrial equipment.

  • Refine existing product designs to optimize performance and manufacturability.

  • Collaborate with sales and production teams to configure designs to customer specifications.

  • Apply standard and modular design methodologies to enhance product durability.

  • Partner with manufacturing to maximize production efficiency and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

  • Conduct validation testing and failure analysis to ensure high performance and product quality.

  • Develop design templates, drawings, and documentation to maintain consistency across product lines.

  • Work with R&D and Product Management to incorporate usability and market competitiveness into new designs.

  • Support field teams and customers with troubleshooting and technical expertise.

  • Communicate customer feedback to drive product enhancements and strategic development.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards in designs.

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, aligning with schedules and budget requirements.

  • Travel as needed for customer site reviews, prototype evaluations, and field testing activities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical or systems design, preferably within heavy-equipment manufacturing.

  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.

  • Proficiency in 3D parametric modeling software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.

  • Strong analytical, creative, and collaborative problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.

  • Experience with 3D printing and computer-aided manufacturing technologies.

  • Knowledge in FEA analysis and CFD.

  • Familiarity with Autocad, new product development, and 3D modeling.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that focuses on heavy equipment manufacturing. The position may require travel for customer site reviews and field testing, demanding a flexible schedule. The workspace is equipped with advanced technologies and tools, including 3D modeling software and computer-aided manufacturing technologies. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Green Cove Springs, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
