COUNTY OF BROWN Veterans Benefits Specialist in GREEN BAY, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Performs specialized work in conducting transactions with the public requiring knowledge and understanding of Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs/Veterans Administration (WDVA/VA) laws, regulations and/or departmental policies and procedures. Essential Duties Assures the proper recording and filing of all documents authorized by law and/or according to policies and procedures. Assists the public by providing information and answers inquiries of a complex nature. Gathers information on a variety of subjects and compiles financial, statistical and legal reports. Analyzes and interprets information contained in a variety of documents, forms, reports, etc. for processing. Obtain information from the public for the completion of forms, documents, records, etc. Refers inquiries to proper department or official. Independently complies data and prepares various reports and application for State and Federal VA benefits and programs. Types reports, correspondence, vouchers and statistical data from written and printed material. Answers questions regarding departmental regulations and policies. Performs filing and searching. Makes detailed arithmetic calculations for processing of information. Performs related functions as assigned. Brown County is an E-Verify employer. Knowledge of business English, spelling and grammar. Knowledge of simple bookkeeping. Knowledge of medical terminology. Specialized knowledge in WDVA and VA benefits/programs. Ability to make fairly complex arithmetic calculations. Ability to interview and obtain information from the public. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying or objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing and walking. Must be capable of using hand(s)/feet for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling and operating controls. Occasional bending, twisting, squatting, reaching and grappling. Ability to communicate orally in a clear manner. Ability to distinguish sounds at various frequencies and volumes.
