What You Can Expect

The Manufacturing Director is responsible for leading the operation of an integrated, optimized manufacturing unit that champions safety, high quality, and compliance in accordance with regulatory requirements, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Director is responsible for leading all manufacturing activities required to operate production value streams and for leading and delivering results across all aspects of QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People).

This role collaborates with business leaders and their teams to ensure that manufacturing practices, organizational structure, and management procedures are at the optimum level to drive and support the achievement of business objectives.

This role has full accountability of all aspects for the achievement of all functional objectives and related tasks across the manufacturing site.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Implement a local manufacturing strategy that is aligned with global Operations objectives as well as ZB strategy and growth plans.

  • Oversee all manufacturing operations and engineering acitvities related to production.

  • Manage multiple manufacturing departments that include a staff of production supervisors, engineers, clerks, hourly production employees, and related personnel.

  • Own and lead the execution of all transformation-related programs and projects in area of responsibility as they relate to processes, people, footprint, and technology.

  • Champion and support the site's environmental, health, safety, and sustainability objectives and initiatives.

  • Obtain and maintain a full understanding of the manufacturing operation and the ZB Quality System. Ensure compliant execution of all functions within scope of assigned departments.

  • Drive and link business opportunities with the application of innovative technologies in manufacturing processes.

  • Predict and resdesign manufacturing systems to bring about dramatic improvements in performance while still complying with current and future regulations.

  • Assist senior Operations leadership in engaging and supporting assigned internal client groups and act as a liaison with other Zimmer Biomet functions to ensure ZB effectively attracts, places, develops, and rewards highly competent and successful people.

  • Attract, retain, and encourage individual development of key personnel for future assignments by arranging appropriate formal training, mentoring, or other experiences.

  • Drive performance of staff for optimum output and develop top performers for leadership roles.

  • Interface with product development, engineering, and marketing functions for the successful introduction of new products.

  • Develop and drive an operating culture that promotes consistency of behaviors that lead to superior business performance.

  • Understand, implement, and monitor annual budgets for assigned value streams and execute continuing operations within the budgets.

  • Develop and grow the organizations capabilities in Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, continuous imrpovement, and Business Continuity Planning.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Bilingual with the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish and English fluently strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing best practices, industry trends, legal and regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's Degree in an operations, business, engineering, or related discipline required. Masters level education preferred.

  • At least eight years of related experience required. At least twelve years of experience is preferred and will be required without at least a Bachelor's level of education.

  • Commensurate combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Must have proficiency and experience in the following areas: capacity planning and development, budgeting for multiple profit centers, development of quality and productivity plans, new product process development, manufacturing flow analysis and implementation, personnel selection and development, and operations management.

  • Experience leading at a start-up manufacturing site strongly preferred.

  • Experience in a regulated environment strongly preferred.

  • Experience in medical technology manufacturing preferred.

  • Lean and/ or Six Sigma certification and/ or specialized Operations or Supply Chain certification or training strongly preferred.

Travel Expectations

  • Must possess the ability to travel on a regular basis with overnight stays. Occasional regional travel and global travel will be required.
