Directional Drill Operators Operate Ditch Witch JT20 Directional Drills, Locating Systems, Mixing Systems and Commercial Vehicles used in the installation of Underground Utilities. Directional Drill Operators are responsible for the safe operation and basic maintenance of the organization's Directional Drill.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Safely operate the directional drill in the installation of Underground Utilities
Operate directional drill in residential areas
Responsible for the safe operation and basic maintenance of the organization's equipment
Read and interpret locates, drawings, stakes and signage
Perform Pre Job Hazard Inspections for directional drilling tasks
Coordinate and organize daily activities of equipment with drivers and operators
Performing and logging pre-operation safety inspections for fueling and greasing the directional drill in order to maintain safe and optimal operation.
General labour duties as required
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the construction industry operating an (HDD) Horizontal Directional Drill Rig, specifically a Directional Drill Rig – Ditch Witch JT20 Directional Drill
Experience operating a mini-excavator, skid-steer, hydrovac or backhoe is an asset
Active member of LiUNA 183, or willing to join LiUNA 183
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Possess a valid, Ontario Class A Driver's License and a clean, 3 year driving abstract
Must hold a valid CSTS/Ground Disturbance ticket
Willing to travel out of town if required
Construction Safety Certifications including the following are considered assets.
Basics of Supervision
Confined Space Awareness/Rescue
Fall Arrest
WHMIS
First Aid
The expected salary range for this role is per the LiUNA 183 Collective Agreement.
