Dates of Need: 02/01/2026 -11/30/2026. Applicants must have 20 days experience with basic irrigation work and provide the contact information of at least one reference who can verify experience and performance. Due to the nature of the job and the requirement to drive on public roads, applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid driver\'s license within 10 days of hire.

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties in connection with the operation and\ maintenance of ditches, canals, and waterways used exclusively for supplying and storing\ water for farming purposes for the majority of the workdays in the overall contract period,\ commensurate with the duties encompassed within the five SOC Codes comprising the field\ and livestock workers (combined) category. Duties will include the following responsibilities: operate, maintain, and repair canals, waterways, pumps, irrigation systems, facilities, etc.; communicate with water users to determine quantity of water needed, and time and duration of delivery; compute and requisition quantity of water required; measure or estimate diversions of water from canals and to water users; patrol assigned area by foot or motor vehicle to detect leaks, breaks, weak areas, or obstructions, and damage to irrigation system; maintain canal roads; write reports and record daily deliveries, number of users, amount of water used, and other data required by law or company; prepare reports on condition of system and equipment, and replacements or repairs needed; maintain inventory of property and supplies; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on machinery/equipment; may mix and/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable) and keep accurate records regarding application; remove undesirable and excess growth; paint/repair/maintain structures; perform general cleanup; drive, drive, load/unload farm trucks and Ag exempt, non-CDL semi-trucks or between, farm worksites; operate vehicle, motor bike, or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; perform any other duties necessary to maintain and operate the waterways and irrigation systems; may travel to town to pick up/deliver parts, supplies, etc.; workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers.

Instruction, training, and general supervision will be provided by the farm operator or a designated employee. However, the worker must perform required duties without close\ supervision and listen to, understand, and follow simple instructions of the employer or supervisor.\ The worker will be required to return worn out tools, supplies, and equipment before new ones will be provided. Most duties are performed out of doors and entail exposure to heat, cold, dust, rain, and other environmental conditions common in fields, including mosquitoes during certain seasons. The worker must crouch, bend, and lift and carry items weighing up to the number of pounds indicated in Section B/Item 4e. in the course of performing required activities. The worker may be offered work seven days a week, as farm work must be performed seven days a week. The worker will be required, however, to work the minimum number of hours indicated. The worker may be offered more than the specified hours per day but is only required to work the hours specified. The worker may be requested, but will not be required, to work on his/her Sabbath and/or on Federal holidays. Job duties require routine system checks late in the evening (such as 10:00 p.m.) and very early in the morning (such as 3:00 a.m.). Extended hours may be required during peak production periods. Work hours may vary and there may be periods when little or no work will be available due to weather, time of year, and the requirements of wate users.
