Description
Summary: Plans, supervises, and coordinates Casino Audit and Compliance operations and personnel.
The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Employee(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.
Essential Job Functions:
Monitors and assists in ensuring compliance with tribal gaming regulations, Minimum Internal Control Standards, and internal controls.
Manages and oversees Title 31/AML compliance program.
Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities for Casino gaming and non-gaming transactions.
Oversees daily auditing operations for accuracy and completeness.
Develops and implements policies and procedures for gaming audits, nongaming audits, and the compliance program.
Coordinates and provides training in gaming and nongaming audit procedures.
Support external and internal audits by responding to inquiries and providing documentation.
Review SARs and CTRs for accuracy and completeness.
Assists in the review of monthly financial statements.
Assists the Controller in budget and KPI.
Provides management personnel with operational information.
Prepares and maintains a variety of departmental reports, records, and documentation.
Identifies control weaknesses and recommends corrective action.
Conducts and coordinates special projects as assigned.
Attends and participates in various meetings.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and in alignment with SMGI’s Pride Values, Brand Promise, and Business Vision.
Interviews and trains employees.
Plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems for employees as well as guests.
Makes recommendations to the Manager and Director for hiring and staff separations in accordance with company policies.
Ensures the hiring, training, promoting, assigning, disciplining, and discharging of employees are in accordance with Tribal Law, including without limitation, the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO).
Required Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of accounting.
Audit processes and procedures.
Regulations and standards governing audit activities.
Gaming regulations and Minimum Internal Control Standards.
Federal Title 31 program.
Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
Microsoft Office applications Word and Excel.
Required Skill in:
Supervising and coordinating audit functions.
Monitoring audit activities and assisting in ensuring regulatory compliance.
Reviewing audit work for accuracy and completeness.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
Developing and writing policies and procedures.
Supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority.
Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and four (4) years of accounting experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
High security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in an office environment with occasional exposure to tobacco smoke and noise common to gaming environments.
Work is subject to frequent sitting, intermittent standing and walking, and occasional bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Equipment and Tools Utilized:
- Equipment utilized includes a personal computer and standard office equipment.
