Principal Financial Group Relationship Manager -Retirement Solutions (Grand Rapids, MI) in Grand Rapids, Michigan

What You'll Do

In our Customer Care area, the Relationship Manager develops deep relationships with advisors, plan sponsors, and third-party administrators that are in our 10M - 200M market space in the Grand Rapids area (West-Central MI area). This role is the strategic partner to our clients and advisors to provide creative solutions that meet business goals of retention, growth, and retirement readiness to name a few.

Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the plan sponsor and the advisor on plan design, investments, retirement readiness, services and new opportunities.

  • Plan level health reviews.

  • Problem solving complex issues.

Who You Are

Relationship Manager II:

  • Bachelor's degree or 8 years of equivalent experience required

  • 4+ years retirement industry experience

  • Must become an associated person of Principal Securities, Inc

  • Qualified Plan knowledge strongly preferred (Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution)

  • Excellent demonstrated leadership, negotiation, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills required, as well as superior interpersonal, analytical, and oral and written communication skills

  • Must be assertive and entrepreneurial

  • Travel required (25 - 30%), mostly day travel but there will be some overnight travel, as well.

Relationship Manager III: (above qualifications apply along with below additions) :

  • 6+ years of retirement industry experience

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$89300 - $148200 / year

Salary Details

The following salary ranges reflect market-specific compensation for this position across multiple job levels. Candidates will be evaluated to determine the appropriate job level based on their skills and experience.

  • Relationship Manager II (Grand Rapids): $89,300 - $120,650 / year

  • Relationship Manager III (Grand Rapids): $110,200 - $148,200 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

The territory covered by this position requires the candidate to live in the Grand Rapids, MI area.

Work Environment

You will be able to work from home when not at customer meetings.
