Taco Bell Field Service Engineer in GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan

The Field Service Engineer provides hands-on technology support across Border Foods restaurants, ensuring systems operate effectively and consistently. This role troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs technology-related equipment while modeling our Core Values of Excellence, Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork, Family, and Empowerment. As a frontline representative of the Technology team, this engineer ensures operational continuity and delivers an exceptional support experience for restaurant teams.
This role is a field-based support position in Southwest Michigan, requiring regular on-site presence in restaurants to deliver hands-on technical support.
Accountability Scope
• Ensures operational uptime across technology systems, supporting restaurant performance and guest experience.
• Demonstrates Accountability and Integrity in all repairs, documentation, and follow-up actions.
• Represents Border Foods professionally, fostering Teamwork and Family when partnering with restaurant leaders.
• Maintains safe, compliant environments by following correct repair procedures and documenting issues accurately.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service & Troubleshooting
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on all restaurant technology equipment.
• Use sound judgment to identify additional system needs beyond initial repair scope.
• Ensure all work meets Border Foods' quality, accuracy, and safety standards.
Vendor Coordination
• Serve as the on-site representative during vendor visits.
• Verify quality, timeliness, and compliance with brand expectations.
Technical Expertise & Continuous Learning
• Maintain knowledge of Border Foods technology systems (POS, networking, digital displays, etc.).
• Pursue continuing education/certification opportunities.
On-Call Rotation
• Participate in on-call rotation (1 week every 3-5 weeks).
• Provide after-hours and emergency support.
Customer Service
• Communicate timelines, expectations, and repair outcomes clearly.
• Support a Family-first service mindset through partnership with restaurant teams.
Qualifications
Required:
• 1-2 years experience in field service, technical support, or maintenance
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently across multiple restaurant locations
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift, install, or move equipment
• Excellent communication skills
Preferred:
• Technical certifications (e.g., Stratacache)
• Multi-unit restaurant or retail experience
• POS, networking, or digital signage experience

This is an hourly position with an expected minimum of 50 hours per week, with total annual earnings equivalent to approximately $80,000-$90,000.
