Job Description
Position Summary
At Acron, our ambition is to relentlessly reimagine and reshape the value chains by which we deliver results to our customers, suppliers, and internal/external stakeholder communities in pursuit of innovations to create safer skies. Acron employees strive to achieve world-class results through our values: always putting our customers first, taking ownership of our results, moving fast, and speaking candidly.
We currently seek a Production Master Scheduler who thrives in complex, cross-functional environments and is highly skilled in applying both Master Scheduling fundamentals and Continuous Improvement, Lean, and Team Building processes to achieve our vision. This position is part of the Acron Avionics Business Unit and will be in Grand Rapids, MI. This role requires the selected candidate to work on-site during the first shift hours.
We are seeking a dynamic Production Master Scheduler to develop the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and near-term execution plan for Avionics product lines, ensuring the plan is:
Feasible – modeled through material, machine, and labor capacity constraints
Stable – level loaded and flowing to customer demand rates while controlling change within lead-time fences
Visible – performance KPIs established with disciplined operating cadences that deliver Safety, Quality, Delivery, Finance, and People objectives
The ideal candidate is a transformational Master Scheduler with demonstrated and sustained experience in Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies, adept at using, teaching, and reinforcing SAP-based ERP automation tools, an influential leader of support functions needed to execute on the MPS, and a team builder driven to reinforce cultures of excellence.
Acron’s requirement is for candidates who can influence and drive problem-solving disciplines and operational excellence across the end-to-end value stream and are accountable for delivering to the MPS. Our vision for the role is to extend beyond the foundational elements of analyzing constraints, modeling capacity, and creating schedules, and to deliver value by collaborating across all business functions to ensure our plans are operating realities.
Key Responsibilities
Demand Consolidation and Master Schedule Development
Develop and maintain the MPS for assigned product lines, aggregating and translating demand into an executable plan. Manage changes to time fences and enforce schedule governance to limit unnecessary changes.
Develop and maintain rough-cut capacity models and identify constraint risks for mitigation. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure mitigations are actioned to protect the schedule.
Drive production leveling to smooth load/mix where practical, reducing peaks/valleys, protecting flow, and minimizing inventory investment.
Consult with production planning on customer/program commitments by providing feasible promise dates and scenario tradeoffs.
Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) and Near-Term Sequencing (Weekly)
Run the weekly S&OE cadence for the value stream: review demand changes, constraints, shortages, and publish a firm near-term build plan.
Consult with production planning to convert the MPS into a weekly build sequence aligned to the system constraint and material readiness gates.
Partner with Procurement/Supplier Management to ensure supplier deliveries align with the build plan and mitigate risks early.
Integrate engineering/configuration changes (ECO effectivity) into the schedule, minimizing disruption and rework.
Work with the sales team to pull in incremental opportunities and drive the disposition of excess inventory.
Execution Control, Daily Management & Escalation
Operate daily visual management using KPI trees/dashboards for schedule performance, shortages, and constraints; maintain an action log with owners/dates.
Coordinate cross-functional responses to disruptions (supplier slips, quality holds/MRB, equipment downtime) using structured problem-solving and escalation.
Continuous Improvement of the Planning System
Lead or participate in kaizen events to reduce planning waste, improve lead time and quality assumptions, and increase plan reliability.
Improve master data quality (BOM/routings/lead times/standard times) and ERP data accuracy to enable better planning and scheduling outcomes.
Help standardize planning “language” and practices across teams.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business (or equivalent experience).
9+ years in master scheduling, production planning, materials management, or supply chain.
Demonstrated experience creating and managing a Master Production Schedule and driving cross-functional execution cadences.
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP (SAP, or equivalent).
Strong analytical skills (Excel/Power BI or similar), scenario planning, and constraint-based thinking. Demonstrated experience in what-if modeling and machine and labor capacity modeling.
Experience with developing and leading KPI trees used to measure the effectiveness and attainment of established master schedules.
Continuous improvement (kaizen) experience – leads improvements in process and outcomes through structured problem solving and learning-by-doing. Disciplined approach to standard work development and maintenance.
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, persuasion, and negotiation.
Preferred
- APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM/CSCP) or equivalent planning credentials.
