The Manufacturing Engineering Lead supports the factory by driving advanced manufacturing solutions, leading engineering activities, and ensuring robust, scalable production processes for safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This role provides technical leadership to engineers and technicians, partners cross‑functionally with Production, Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain, and plays a critical role in achieving AME and plant‑level strategic objectives. The hours for this role will be 3:30pm – 12:30am.

  • Lead the development and implementation of production solutions that enhance safety, quality, delivery reliability, and cost competitiveness across E480 product lines.

  • Lead four directs reports including two engineers and two technicians

  • Provide technical and daily leadership to Manufacturing Engineers and ME Technicians, ensuring alignment to plant KPIs and Siemens Production System (SPS) principles.

  • Oversee the design, optimization, and validation of manufacturing processes , ensuring efficiency, stability, and adherence to Lean Manufacturing and 5S standards.

  • Plan and direct pilot/first article builds , evaluating process sequencing, tooling requirements, labor standards, and DFM/DFA opportunities in coordination with R&D Engineering. ‑article builds

  • Drive continuous improvement and digitalization initiatives , including automation, process monitoring, waste elimination, and layout optimization.

  • Develop and maintain production documentation , including work instructions, routings, standard work, PFMEA, and control plans.

  • Lead manufacturing layout planning and facility optimization , ensuring world‑class 5S performance, ergonomic safety, and efficient material flow.

  • Prepare and/or approve material and equipment requirements , cost estimates, purchase requisitions, and capital expenditure (CapEx) proposals.

  • Coach and train production and engineering personnel on new processes, equipment, technologies, and best practices.

  • Monitor and report key manufacturing performance indicators , such as throughput, FPY, OEE, scrap rate, labor efficiency, and cycle time.

  • Act as a key liaison between Production, AME, R&D Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Supply Chain to ensure readiness for new product introductions (NPIs) and process changes.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 2 plus years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or related operations roles.

  • 2 plus years of demonstrated experience leading engineering activities or mentoring engineers/technicians in a high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environment.

  • Experience designing, specifying, installing, and validating production tooling, fixtures, and equipment.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Inventor

  • Strong proficiency in Lean manufacturing tools (5S, VSM, Kaizen, Standard Work, SMED).

  • Data‑driven problem‑solving skills; ability to interpret and utilize production data.

  • Experience simulating manufacturing systems or processes (Plant Simulation, Arena, FlexSim, etc.).

  • Experience with programming, automation systems, or database-driven process tools.

  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems.

  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher preferred).

  • Experience supporting NPIs, large capital equipment deployments, or digital manufacturing tools.

  • Proven ability to improve safety, quality, delivery reliability, and cost through engineering solutions and Lean methodologies.
