Job description
Job Summary
The Electro-Mechanical Avionics Technician is responsible for carrying out production or maintenance tasks on a range of equipment, ensuring all work complies with approved technical data and quality manual standards.
Essential Job Functions
• Conduct standard testing procedures on various equipment and validate the results.
• Perform repairs on aviation units in compliance with FAA regulations and in accordance with the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) requirements.
• Disassemble, clean, and visually inspect parts to identify issues or wear.
• Reassemble parts, ensuring all measurements meet specified tolerances and requirements.
• Accurately track and document all activities, maintaining proper control of parts.
• Help maintain shop compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
• Contribute to process improvements aimed at reducing cycle time.
• Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.
• Apply maintenance manuals to evaluate and determine the acceptability of components.
• Regularly update work order information in the ERP system.
• Follow established procedures, making adjustments as necessary and promptly notifying supervisors; recommend expenditures as needed.
• Safeguard confidential and sensitive information to protect SEDA's reputation and competitive position.
• Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, actively supporting Safran HSE policies and remaining vigilant for potential hazards when adopting new skills or equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned.
In addition to the above, is also responsible for the following:
• Fully understand how all mechanical parts and systems interact within the unit.
• Independently troubleshoot SRUs, diagnosing issues such as faulty motors or brakes without supervision.
• Repair all SRUs to meet operational standards.
• Develop innovative repair solutions when standard parts are unavailable, including cannibalization (CANN) and alternative fixes.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of unit operation and review unit history to identify trends and anticipate maintenance needs.
• Convert and apply torque specifications between Metric and ASME standards; adjust and calibrate all torque wrenches accurately.
• Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for shim adjustments.
• Conduct soldering on electronic components with proficiency.
• Test electronic components (diodes, capacitors, relays) and interpret schematics.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain FAA Repairman Certification and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and shop floor. Constantly operates and use a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer and laboratory machinery. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds across office for various needs.
Work Environment
The work environment is an office and on the shop floor. Noise level in the office is quiet and on the shop floor can occasionally require hearing protection.

Required Competencies
Education/Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Typical experience: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Basic level of Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel
• Knowledge of 5S, Lean and Kaizen methods is a plus
• Knowledge of production and repair tools and benches, instrumentation and measuring skills
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and understanding of quality requirements
• Compliance with safety rules (PPE – Personal Prevention Equipment)
• Compliance with procedures and standards – knowledge of CMM requirements
