Water Utilities Maintenance Technician
HIRING RANGE: $26.80- $30.16 per hour.

As a Utilities Maintenance Technician for the Water Division, you will be responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, construction, and repair work of the City's water distribution systems. About the City of Grand Junction Water Services Division:
The City of Grand Junction Water Department provides drinking water for about 30,000 customers. Our customers enjoy being the first users of pristine snowmelt off the Grand Mesa, which is diverted out of Kannah Creek and into Juniata Reservoir before being piped 20 miles to the Water Treatment Plant. The Water Department has a staff of 32 employees, working together in areas such as Pipeline Maintenance, Water Treatment, Water Supply, Customer Service, and Environmental Laboratory Services in order to provide excellent service to our customers. Our employees are responsible for monitoring and maintaining over 300 miles of pipe, two water treatment plants, 10,000 taps, and 86 square miles of watershed.

What You'll Do:
- Install, inspect, clean, and maintain water distribution systems, irrigation equipment, raw water flow lines, and related infrastructure; identify and prevent cross connections, backflow hazards, and other system issues.
- Respond to staff and public inquiries, concerns, and complaints; investigate leaks, pressure problems, and other water-related issues, and resolve them in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform hydro-excavating, pressure testing, utility and manhole locates, trenching, shoring, and water quality sampling; identify and address potential environmental, atmospheric, or mechanical hazards.
- Manage supplies, tools, and equipment for assigned projects; maintain inventories, maps, drawings, records, and reports related to inspections, utility lines, collection systems, and work orders.
- Establish and oversee safe traffic control in work zones; ensure public and worker safety during construction and maintenance activities; respond to emergency situations during or after regular work hours as required.

This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.
What We're Looking For:
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in general labor, maintenance, and/or repair and construction of water distribution or sewer collection systems.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire, a valid Colorado Class "A" Commercial driver's license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within five (5) years of hire, Collections or Distributions IV certifications, depending upon certification level at time of hire.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
