Salary:
BA Step 1 $49,447 or MA Step 1 $52,190 per GITA contract
Duties:
The music teacher introduces foundational musical concepts to students in grades 2-5, fostering appreciation through singing, movement, and instrumental play. The successful candidate will be adept at integrating music history to provide cultural context for diverse repertoire and differentiated instruction to meet various learning needs. The role has potential to expand to include directing vocal ensembles, selecting age-appropriate repertoire, and leading public concerts.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS certification in K-12 Music Education Experience with vocal performance; other instrumental experience
Qualifications Desired:
Experience with Special Education students.
Ability to use assessments to differentiate instruction and improve student achievement
Understanding of the NYS Learning Standards for the Arts, Next Gen Learning Standards and alignment of music curriculum
Strong computer skills and ability to integrate technology into instruction
Evidence of academic success at undergraduate and/or graduate level
Strong written and oral communication skills including scheduling and parent communication)
Strong work ethic, leadership and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with students and adults
