Grand County Crusher Equipment Operator I in Granby, Colorado
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for training on a variety of heavy and light equipment associated with Grand County's gravel pits/mines. The purpose of gravel pits is to have material available throughout the County for the Road and Bridge department to maintain all county roads. This job description is designed for those individuals with minimal to no experience working with heavy and light equipment for Crusher operations, but does possess a CDL.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Operates a crusher, making road base and reclaiming gravel.
· Does a thorough pre/post operations walk-through on all equipment.
· Practices safety procedures at all times and abides by all Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) guidelines.
· Trains in the operation of heavy and light equipment associated with Crusher operations, duties found in roads and bridges, airports, and fairgrounds.
· When assigned, learns snowplow truck for plowing snow and sanding duties.
· When assigned, drives pick-up trucks for checking road conditions, hauling light loads, parts pickup, and other errands.
· Learns to operate water truck, loaders, and backhoe.
· Gains knowledge of Crusher equipment and Crusher procedures.
· Performs preventive and general maintenance on all equipment, which includes greasing, changing oil and filters; checking battery and coolant levels, lights and tires; checking and repairing and rotating tires, and washing vehicles.
· When assigned, builds, installs, and repairs bridges, fences, and cattle guards.
· Performs manual labor tasks for the Crusher, shoveling materials, and others.
· May be required to respond to local emergencies i.e., fires or flooding.
· Ability to assist Airports or Fairgrounds as needed.
· Learns to Weld broken equipment and fabricates equipment parts when required.
· Recognizes any mechanical problems and repairs equipment.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
