Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Gorham, Maine. This role is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail and a solid background in financial processes and reporting. As part of our team, you will contribute to key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and execute month-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are correctly recorded.
• Prepare and post journal entries, adhering to established accounting principles.
• Perform comprehensive account reconciliations to verify financial data integrity.
• Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between internal records and external statements.
• Collaborate with team members to review and analyze financial statements.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in financial transactions and records.
• Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
• Stay updated on accounting regulations and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency in accounting operations. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting roles, with exposure to senior-level responsibilities.
• Proficiency in month-end close procedures and general ledger management.
• Strong ability to prepare and review journal entries accurately.
• Demonstrated experience in account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.
