Job Description
Provides leadership for the development activities of engineering projects.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Effectively plans and manages multiple engineering projects, of any size or complexity, for quality development of infrared cameras, components, and accessory products
Actively manages project milestones, budget performance, deliverables and quality, and reports project status using department process, tools and metrics
Maintains an active risk tracking and mitigation plan for all aspects of a project including schedule delays, technical issues, supplier problems. Proactively engages development teams and Engineering Management to reduce and mitigate project risks and issues.
Provides leadership and direction to the engineering staff on the development according to the released Design Control Process
Mentors junior team members to include leadership approach, project management methodology, tools, and soft skills
Regular interaction with Product Management to clearly define and control project requirements and changes to the established baseline
Develops a strong understanding of the business case and requirements critical to the success of the project and product, to include occasional, direct interaction with customers/users
Ability to assess the health of a troubled project of any-size, and generate a recovery project plan, risk mitigation plan and actions to achieve the project objective
Excels in coordinating with the internal organization and company leadership to achieve development objectives and product manufacturing goals.
Contributes project management process improvement ideas and initiatives for continuous improvement
Assists with developing and reviewing project estimations for all projects, including resource allocation, priorities, schedules and forecasts.
Assists in the establishment of the department budget
Assists in proposal activities, including the internal maintenance of project scope estimates for all identified future projects.
Provides feedback into the Engineering processes so they are constantly improved
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline
10+ years project/program management experience, managing and leading highly skilled technical teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Exceptional communication and organizational skills at all levels in a company; robust interpersonal skills with evidence of teamwork and collaboration
Experience in coordinating cross-disciplinary project teams in a matrix management environment
Drives deadlines in dynamic and fast moving environments
Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills at all organizational levels
Self-directed, has initiative and is a great multi-tasker
Must be a US Citizen or have Permanent Resident status
Proven commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience with Lean Development desirable.
Other Qualification:
- Formal project management training or other similar training (e.g. MBA)
Salary Range:
$141,900.00-$189,200.000
