An exciting opportunity awaits for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of next-generation, needle-free drug delivery systems. This role involves hands-on mechanical design, prototyping, and design controls for a new pre-filled syringe application. You will lead mechanical concepts from proof-of-concept through validation, collaborating with quality, clinical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet FDA and ISO requirements. This position offers high visibility and the chance to support a growing product portfolio with global clinical and commercial impact.
Responsibilities
Lead new product development from proof-of-concept through design verification for a needle-free drug delivery application, following a stage-gate NPD process.
Create, refine, and release 3D models and final production drawings for disposable and syringe-based components using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
Author and maintain Design History Files (DHF), support audits, inspections, and ensure compliance with ISO and FDA design controls throughout development.
Optimize designs for manufacturability and scale-up in partnership with contract manufacturers and key suppliers.
Manage prototype builds, testing iterations, and design refinements through vendor engagement and validation activities.
Essential Skills
2-5 years of experience in mechanical design, particularly in medical devices within a regulated environment.
Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
Working knowledge of ISO and FDA design controls, with experience supporting new product development from concept through testing.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with pre-filled syringes, disposable devices, or drug delivery systems.
Direct exposure to FDA inspections or ISO audits.
Design of Experiments (DOE) experience.
Vendor-facing or light project leadership responsibilities.
Work Environment
The position is based onsite in Golden, CO, in an office-based engineering environment with small-scale prototyping. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with external contract manufacturers for scale production and interact with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Clinical, and Customer. This role offers a unique chance to work on life-saving, needle-free drug delivery technology used in global vaccination programs, with strong funding and strategic backing supporting long-term product expansion.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $62.50/hr.
