Eaton Corporation Intern - DC Systems Modeling in Golden, Colorado
The hourly rate for this position is $35.00-$40.00 per hour.

What you’ll do:
Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently looking for an Intern – DC Systems Modeling to join our team in Golden CO. The primary role of this position is to support technology development and execution for R&D projects related to DC distribution systems and applications. The candidate is expected to work closely with our research engineers to develop models for the operation of DC systems. This internship offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in modeling, control, and protection of DC systems and contribute to real-world projects.

The ERL is a corporate R&D function within Eaton's Chief Technology Office, responsible for innovative and breakthrough technology development and commercialization for Eaton products and service solutions. This position will coordinate with ERL engineers on research and development to address modeling, control, and protection challenges of DC systems, including data centers and EV charging infrastructure. This work will help businesses across Eaton solve critical business problems and uncover new business opportunities. The Intern will report to the Technology Manager.

In this role you will:
Collaborate with the research team in technology development and demonstration.
Develop models for control and protection of DC systems.
Support implementing state-of-the-art concepts and solutions into quick prototypes, feasibility studies, specifications, and eventually into larger systems and product components.
Investigate, integrate, and validate new product designs abiding by time-based milestones.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Actively enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in Electrical engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
Experience using PSCAD or MATLAB/Simulink, or other EMT‑based simulation tools, for power system and converter‑level studies.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with modeling of DC systems, including DC data centers, medium‑voltage DC (MVDC) architectures, or DC microgrids.
Experience using control theory and digital control techniques, or state‑space modeling, for power converters and grid‑connected systems.
Experience in DC protection schemes.
Experience using hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) platforms, or real‑time simulators, for controller testing and validation
