This position can be based at any of our US & Canadian Offices with a Hybrid schedule of 3 days a week in Office.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Global Mobility Senior Advisor will act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to business leaders and provide subject matter expertise

Proactively manage Global Expatriate Management Cycle with strong partnerships with People Business Partners

Proactively engage with active assignees for engagement and regular connections

Develop and maintain effective key stakeholder relationships globally

Proactively identify and mitigate risks in all areas of Global Mobility (immigration matters, employer taxes, relocation management)

Pre-assessment management - consultation with business leaders on the purpose of the move, completion of cost projections, collaboration with People team on talent profile of candidate

Provide subject matter expertise and consult with key stakeholders (People and Talent Acquisition teams, Business leaders, Finance/Payroll teams, Legal) as it relates to Global Mobility Standards interpretation for long-Term and Short-Term International Assignments, Permanent Relocations, External International Hires, Project Workers and Frequent Business Travelers

Provide regular and relevant insights on Global Mobility trends

Main point of contact for Americas Immigration related matters for international moves to and within the Americas region

Work closely with the Global Mobility Leader on immigration and relocation operational program enhancements and projects

Support in guiding the People, Talent Acquisition teams and Business on all Global Mobility related matters

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Manage Global Expatriate relocations in Partnership with People Leaders and Business Partners

Consult on moves, cost projections, and candidate profiles.

Advise on Global Mobility Standards for all assignment types

Be the main contact for Americas immigration providing advice

Share insights on mobility trends.

Support program enhancements

Build effective partnerships with vendors and internal team partners

Mitigate risks in immigration, tax, and relocation management

Working with key stakeholders, including third party providers, to ensure Global Mobility service delivery is 'fit for purpose' and effectively delivered to clients in this region

Consult, advi e and influence the business on appropriate policy application based on move drivers while minimizing exceptions

Partner with the Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, People Teams and Business Leaders in the mobility candidate selection process

Ensure all required business approvals are in place prior to proceeding with pre-assignment activities

Work in partnership with shared services team and local regional payroll and People teams with respect to assignment initiations, review and approvals of assignment documentation and guide local payroll teams on assignment set up, immigration authorization tracking/onboarding

Proactive case management for assignees throughout the international mobility assignment life cycle including pre-assignment and repatriation and reintegration activities

Support with continues employee experience and operational process management

Ensures smooth execution of all employee relocation activities with support from internal and external resources

Identifying tax issues and engaging with relevant stakeholders (Global Mobility Leader, external Tax Providers and internal finance teams) to achieve process and program compliance

Governance and compliance of Global Mobility Standards, tax and immigration requirements

Single point of contact for employees to support with mobilization and demobilization administrative activities

Liaise with external immigration lawyers to review all immigration requirements for Americas immigration related matters for international moves to and within the Americas region

Maintain and track visa and work permit status for all authorized employees. This includes visa renewals and the visa application process for incoming employees globally

Liaise with external relocation provider as needed to address employee issues escalation

Advise on technical & tactical payroll and relocation administration

Support internal stakeholder with immigration queries in partnership with internal and external immigration support

Partner with People Services to ensure external relocation providers are completed in a timely basis and act as escalation point

Track and report on all Global Mobility moves related to volumes, immigration expiry, annual salary adjustments, and ongoing assignment support (in partnership with internal and external stakeholders)

Support the Global Mobility Leader with educating and promoting the Global Mobility program enhancements

Partner with Global Mobility Leader with Country specific projects to ensure efficiencies and compliance in line with GHD and People strategies

Demonstrated ability to articulate complex immigration and other Global Mobility matters and provide practical simplified solutions for the business

Actively participate and own ongoing Global Mobility related project work

Demonstrated ability in providing interpretation of programs, Global Mobility approaches and policies

Interact with various internal stakeholders to understand and practically apply country specific legislation

Demonstrated ability to investigate and manage through employee grievances related to mobility moves

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

A college or university degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

Significant experience working at a senior level in a complex organisation with an in-depth knowledge of global mobility principles, policies, tax and immigration

Human Resources experience an asset

Extensive understanding of expatriate remuneration, benefits, assignment cost estimates, expatriate taxation concepts, social security concepts, pension, payroll and tax equalization methodology

Strong sense of autonomy and independence and willingness to problem solve and offer potential solutions to challenges

Ability to build strong local partnership with both global and local vendors, monitoring and auditing performance and compliance

Effective decision making and influencing skills
