    Program(s):Developmental Services Provides nursing oversight, clinical care, and program support toindividuals with developmental and/orintellectual disabilities, ensuring compliance with DHS Rule 116 and other applicable federal and state regulations.

    Immediate Supervisor:Senior Director of Developmental Services

    Supervises:None

    Hours of Work:Call-in. 10-15 hours/week, hours will vary based on agency needs. Participationinafter-hours/on-callrotation is required.

    RN Minimum Qualifications:Registered Nurse (RN); Must complete the DHS Nurse Trainer Program upon hire if not already credentialed and maintain credential throughout employment. 1 year of professional nursing clinical experience within the last 5 years preferably in the field of developmental disabilities. Prefer 1 or more years of experience working with persons with a developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.

    RN Skills & Knowledge:Ability to provide clinical, administrative and program supervision of DSPs for medication administration. Ability to write, implement, and assist/train staff in addressing the training needs as identified in individual program plans, for a group or subgroup of service recipients within a given level of developmental/intellectual disability. Must be able to document consumers progress towards goals, react appropriately in crises, and teach daily living skills, vocational, social habilitation survival techniques and related subjects on an elementary level. Requires the ability to participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and have effective oral and written communication skills. Must provide transportation and assist consumers with doctor appointments and medical follow-up. Completes nursing assessments, administers injections, and provides other medical care as needed. Must possess ability to work directly with pharmacy and staff in ordering medication and ensuring availability of medication. Must participate in afterhours division nursing on-call rotation. Requires fundamental knowledge of developmental and intellectual disabilities, Rule 116 program rules, and other related federal and state regulations. Must obtain RN -Trainer Certification within first year of employment.

    RN Special Requirements:Must be 21 years of age; maintains a valid drivers license and vehicle liability insurance; maintain First Aid & CPR Trainer certification; maintains RN licensure in Illinois; must complete required registry clearances and criminal fingerprint background checks; schedules evening / or weekend hours as necessary; Travel to all agency sites when appropriate; Serves as the on-call nurse for all workshops and residential sites; Obtain/Maintain RN-Trainer Certification.

    RN job duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Provides clinical, administrative and program supervision to Direct Support Persons Residential (Med Administration). On-site supervision to personsinother programs as necessary.

    • Supervises medication administration operations and activitiesinall prog rams (ensures MARs current & accurate) with medication changes. Changes and signs MARs monthly. Checks MARS and signs after month complete.

    • Submits nursing med errors as required and quarterly report to Safety Committee.

    • Keeps Developmental Services Division Directorinformed regarding programmatic successes and problems.

    • Will assist with medical appointments as needed and maintain a good working relationship with physician appointments to maintain continuity of care.

    • Ability to screen, assess and provideinterventions for consumers that are exhibiting symptoms of trauma.

    • Must be able to write, implement and train staff on behaviorintervention programs as writtenineachindividuals plan.

    • Completes nursing assessments (SAMA and HRIST), administersinjections, and coordinates medications and/or medical needs of consumers.

    • Will assistinrunning of medical appointments and will assistinmonitoringindividuals medication availability.

    • Monitorsand documents thatindividuals maintain and obtain their optimal level of health.
