We are currently hiring an Administration Assistant to join the team at our Goderich facility in Goderich, ON.

Compass Minerals’ Goderich Plant has operated since 1867, after an unsuccessful search for oil uncovered a vast bed of rock salt under Goderich. Using mechanical evaporation, the plant produces high-purity, fine- and coarse-grained salt products in packages and in bulk for commercial, agricultural and industrial applications. The plant also packages rock salt from the mine that is used for deicing and water conditioning.

Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following

  • Coordinate daily office activities, including scheduling meetings and events, managing mail and packages, answering phones, greeting and directing visitors, and delivering safety orientations.

  • Provide backup support to the Payroll Clerk during vacations or absences.

  • Maintain and organize logistics documentation and filing systems.

  • Manage inventory of office and plant assets; source vendors, obtain quotes, and process invoices. Update Digital Plant Communication Screens to ensure timely and accurate internal communication.

  • Provide backup support to the Production Scheduler as needed.

  • Enter and track maintenance work order costs and labour on a daily basis.

  • Update daily work center schedules to support smooth plant operations.

  • Support various assigned projects as required.

  • Perform additional duties to support overall site operations.

What should you bring to the role?

  • High School Diploma required; post‑secondary education in Business Administration, Office Management, Supply Chain, or a related field considered an asset.

  • 2–5 years of experience in administrative, coordination, or operations‑support roles within a fast‑paced, multi‑shift or industrial environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships across shifts, departments, and levels of the organization.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of professionalism when interacting with employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Highly organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accuracy under tight timelines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; able to create spreadsheets, reports, presentations, and schedules with ease.

  • Experience working with Production MRP/ERP systems (such as JDE E1, SAP, CMS, or AS400) is considered a strong asset.

  • Experience using Payroll or Time & Attendance platforms.

What is the work schedule?

  • Monday-Friday 40-hour work week

ABOUT THE POSITION

  • Vacancy Status : This posting is for an existing vacancy.

  • Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 per year (based on experience).
