United States Steel Process Coordinator - Reliability Excellence in Mountain Iron,

13879BRJob Description:U. S. Steel is excited to offer an opportunity for a SAMP Coordinator at our taconite mining and processing facilities. This mid-level position that supports maintenance and operations at the Keetac and Minntac facilities.

SAMP (Strategic Asset Management Program) is a program that is set up to maintain the physical building structures at US Steel. This program requires audits on inspection activities, inspection intervals, finding backlog repairs and assisting with complex engineered repairs.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Administer the U. S. Steel safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and work orders to workers and assign duties accordingly

  • Maintain, enforce, and improve existing SAMP program.

  • Communicate program status on a routine interval to area departments.

  • Document and define Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Implement data-based continuous improvement programs.

  • Devise and implement cost saving strategies

  • Participate in outage planning, preparation, and execution phases of projects.

  • Comply with all local health and safety rules and regulations.

  • Track and communicate compliance with our structural inspection KPIs.

  • Ensure areas are promptly scheduling repairs identified by our structural inspection process.

  • Manage our Asset Inspection Process Reporting system (AIPR).

  • Ensure areas have trained SAMP inspectors.

  • Ensure all roles in the SAMP process are defined and expectations understood; provide role training as needed.

  • Provide bidding documents for contracted structural inspections and communicate costs to each area manager.

  • Facilitate a review, at least annually, of our inspection program to ensure the correct frequency and level of inspection is being performed on our assets.

  • Field audit areas to ensure inspection quality, repair quality, and program compliance.

  • Ensure all corporate program guidelines are understood and adhered to.

  • Provide Project Manager support for execution of large scope structural projects at MOO.

  • Provide Project Manager support for unplanned structural repairs at MOO.

  • Participate in capital planning and budgeting specific to structural projects at MOO.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Candidate must have more than five years of professional work experience.

  • Able to work flexible schedules occasionally.

  • Bachelors of Science or Associates degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil; OR Technical Training School with 5 years’ experience in a similar role with directly related experience in planning, project management, engineering, structural inspections and repairs, or similar field.

  • Functional / fluent in MS Excel, Word, Project.

  • Physically able to work on multiple floors with Respirator PPE.

  • Certified in Project Management (PMI or equivalent) or willingness to obtain same within 1 year of a start date.

  • This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

  • Experience working with mechanical contractors and engineering companies.

The salary range of $103,956 to $155,934 is a good faith estimate.
