The Glenwood Community School District is currently accepting applications for an Anticipated- Lead Teacher at Lakin Childhood Development Center. The starting wage is $17.00/hr

CHILDCARE LEAD TEACHER

GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:Lead Teacher- Anticipated

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Good communication skills with the public.

• First-Aid / CPR certified

• Provide an acceptable criminal records check.

Essential Function:Ability to lift 35-45 pounds and has regular attendance.

Reports To:Lakin Coordinator

Consults With:Parents, staff

Position Goal:To provide a safe, nurturing, and well-organized day care

environment with developmentally appropriate activities in which children can learn and

grow.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Attends monthly staff meetings.

• Develops lesson plans for the full day for your assigned room.

• Have all materials and instructions prepared for the implementation of the

planned lessons.

• Facilitates daily communication with co-workers and other staff in the room.

• Supervises and implements activities from lesson plans

• Enforcing safety rules, inside and on playground

• Intervening when children are likely to injure themselves or each other

• Remaining with the children at all times/seeing the children are being attended to

• Assisting with self care activities- washing hands, pottying, personal hygiene

• Request supplies and materials needed for room or lesson plans

• Communicates with the Coordinator and/or OnSite Supervisor regarding difficult

individual children or groups of children.

• Assists with breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks, which includes sitting with

the children family style and the cleaning duties which follow, and recording meal

counts.

• Be knowledgeable of the emergency file and emergency procedures.

• Knows the tornado and fire procedures for the program and assists in the

supervision of required drills.

• Be punctual in room and on the job prior to the start of the shift, and notify the

OnSite Supervisor if you are to be late or absent.

• Insures that child:adult ratios are adequate to meet DHS guidelines and individual

needs of the room and reports OnSite Supervisor.

• Always know the count and have a current list of children in the room.

• Maintains daily childcare report on procare for parents to check throughout the

day.

• Maintaining proper student discipline in accordance to the Kids Place discipline

policy.

• Maintains the room so it is kept neat and orderly, and centers are rotated

regularly.

• Greets parents and children upon arrival into the room. Maintains communication

regarding activities and events occurring within the program.

• Always inform the Coordinator and/or OnSite Supervisor of your arrival and

departure.

• Trains and models appropriate interaction with children for childcare associates.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and

modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining

process, where one exists.

Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of

the Board's policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
