Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist
Job Description
The Health and Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards on a large campus. Working closely with the EH&S manager, this role involves inspecting and evaluating equipment and processes, recommending changes to protect workers, and educating employees on preventing health problems through comprehensive safety training and written programs.
Responsibilities
Investigate accidents to identify their causes and develop preventive measures for the future.
Perform Job Hazard Analysis and implement all safety programs, including lockout/tag out, crane, respirators, confined space, forklift, and PPE.
Conduct safety audits to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, and determine corrective or preventive measures.
Assist with setting and achieving annual department goals.
Plan and implement training programs for supervisors and employees to meet safety standards and enhance the company safety culture.
Prepare PowerPoint training presentations.
Assist with new employee safety orientation and ongoing employee safety training.
Provide leadership and interface effectively with all facility colleagues.
Essential Skills
Expertise in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and OSHA regulations.
Proven experience in safety training and conducting safety audits.
Strong background in safety procedures and hazardous waste management.
Proficiency in preparing reports and conducting thorough audits.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree and/or OSHA certification.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Specific knowledge of health and safety requirements at state and federal levels.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Experience in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Work Environment
The position is based in a manufacturing facility, requiring regular campus walks. The team consists of 10 members who work closely together and cross-train to support each other as needed. The dress code is business casual, and work hours start at 6 or 7 AM. The company culture emphasizes team collaboration and development, with a history of no layoffs and profit-sharing opportunities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
