County of McLeod Eligibility Worker in Glencoe, Minnesota
Job Duties
The Eligibility Worker performs intake and determines initial and ongoing eligibility for a variety of income maintenance and public assistance programs, including emergency, cash, food, child care, health care, and county burial assistance. Under general supervision, this position conducts in-person and telephone interviews, evaluates client circumstances, verifies information, and applies county, state, and federal regulations to accurately determine eligibility and case actions. The Eligibility Worker explains program requirements, data privacy rights, and participant responsibilities; assists clients in maintaining eligibility; and provides education, enrollment, and support related to managed health care programs. This role supports clients in addressing barriers to self-sufficiency, promotes independence, and makes appropriate referrals to community and interagency resources. Additional responsibilities include monitoring case changes, completing redeterminations, processing transfers between counties, identifying overpayments and fraud concerns, preparing and participating in appeals, maintaining detailed case documentation in required systems, collaborating with internal and external partners, and participating in ongoing training to remain current on policy and program changes. Other related duties are performed as assigned to ensure continuity of services and program integrity.
Minimum Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of additional advanced education and four years of previous work experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
