Senior Technical Assurance Engineer

ScottishPower HQ, Glasgow (hybrid)

Salary up to £86,500 + up to 20% bonus, car allowance & other excellent benefits

We are therefore responsible for providing safe, sufficient and compliant facilities to the Operational Businesses in a duty holder role.

There is a need to formally control all planned, reactive & project activities across the GSUK estate to ensure compliance with statute, operational efficiency and social responsibilities.

The Senior Engineer is responsible for setting the requirements, approving all asset related activities and ensuring that these meet UK statutory requirements, including designs, activities and processes to enable GSUK to discharge its role as a Duty Holder.

This position is crucial in supporting the delivery of business objectives and ensuring we do the right things at the right time to the right standards in order to protect ScottishPower staff, property and reputation through the delivery of both large-scale and high volume, multi-year plans totalling more than £400m across the ScottishPower estate ensuring it remains safe, sufficient and sustainable both currently and into the future.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as the Technical Design Authority on behalf of GSUK and be responsible for the overall compliance of GSUK to relevant Legislation

  • Develop and implement effective processes to control all property associated with the GSUK portfolio to ensure it remains operationally safe and compliant at all times

  • Establish minimum competencies for all persons engaged in asset related activities and oversee departmental training plans

  • Establishing relevant performance Technical specifications for all facilities and assets

  • Overseeing all design, implementation, handover and maintenance activities ensuring that all requirements are correctly implemented across the estate.

  • Verifying works are completed to requirements through effective controls including auditing where required

  • Design and implementation of effective configuration controls for asset lifecycle management, ensuring the asset register and property directory are accurate

  • Support the Head of Asset Management to develop risk-based decision making frameworks to ensure that performance, cost & risk are optimally balanced

  • Develop, implement, appoint competent persons and oversee the Concessions management processes to ensure assets are ‘safe to operate’

  • Develop and oversee that efficient maintenance strategies are properly created and embedded across all GSUK assets

  • Engaging with Corporate functions to develop and implement a safe working system in accordance with wider SP Policies

  • Support the implementation of the Estate Management Strategy and Capital Investment Programme, ensuring that investment is properly targeted and timed for compliance, operational effectiveness, increased reliability and environmental sustainability

  • Supporting Business change and continuous improvement through engineering best practice aliasing with Operational businesses to ensure ScottishPower remains an industry leader

  • Reporting to Senior Execs estate risks and corrective actions to remain/recover compliance

What you'll bring

  • Expert knowledge of building systems, including integration of services & equipment with structural components

  • Significant knowledge of UK legislation relevant to the built environment

  • Understanding of ISO55000 Asset management principles

  • Demonstrable experience of developing Corporate assurance processes in accordance with ISO31000 risk frameworks

  • Stakeholder Management with excellent communication skills

Advantageous

  • Awareness or previous experience of using SFG20 & alignment with British Standards

  • Commercial experience of FM and(or) Design & Build Contracts

Minimum Criteria

  • Qualified to Degree Level in an Engineering discipline

  • Chartered Member of relevant institute (IMechE, CIBSE etc)

  • Significant experience in similar role

  • Experience of ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO31001 Management Systems
