GE Vernova is looking for a Lead Sales & Proposals Specialist to join our Grid Automation Customer Engineering team in either Stafford or Glasgow in the UK.

As a Lead Sales & Proposals Specialist, you play a key role in turning customer needs into high-quality, competitive proposals that help win projects and deliver long-term value. You work at the centre of commercial, technical, and operational collaboration, helping to develop solutions that meet customer expectations, manage risk, and support successful project delivery from bid through handover.
All propositions to clients need to be strictly aligned with Grid Solutions, Region and PL strategies and processes, in particular the risk assessment and tender validation instructions and to use the relevant live up to date tendering tools in force at any time.
The candidate should have appropriate skills to manage the stakeholders to work as one flexible unit, organise and drive initial tender review meetings along with sales team in-line with current tender processes to ensure a winning bid strategy is defined.
Job Description
How you will make a difference
Leading the preparation of high-quality technical and commercial bids for complex Grid Automation, Protection and Control, Monitoring and Diagnosis, Industrial Communication, and Telecom systems.
Shaping bid strategies with sales and engineering teams to create compelling, customer-focused solutions.
Building clear, accurate technical solutions and cost estimations to ensure proposals are technically and commercially sound and competitive.
Coordinating with engineering, sourcing, operations, and sales teams to deliver bids on time and to a high standard
Identifying risks early, supporting mitigation plans, and helping ensure proposals are robust, compliant, and deliverable
Supporting customer discussions and clarifications to understand priorities and strengthen the quality of each offer
Driving smooth handover into project execution so commitments made during tendering are carried through effectively in line with GEV policies and guidelines.
Monitoring tender schedules, leading tender reviews to keep track of progress of the tenders along with relevant stakeholders. Ensure all processes are in line with GEV policy and SAS commercial strategy.
Ensuring that GEV’s quality, environment health & safety policies are communicated, understood and implemented within areas under your control. Co-operate and work in conjunction with the relevant personnel to ensure best practice are followed for environment health & safety issues.

Requirements:
Experience preparing or coordinating technical and commercial bids in power systems, substations, grid automation, or a related electrical engineering environment
A good understanding of substation automation solutions, such as protection, control, measurement, communications, or supervisory control and data acquisition systems
The ability to review customer specifications, drawings, and tender documents and turn them into clear bid plans and solutions
Confidence working across multiple teams and stakeholders to manage priorities, timelines, and deliverables
Commercial awareness, with the ability to contribute to costing, risk review, and proposal quality and adequate understanding of commercial term and conditions
Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with customers and internal teams
Teamwork oriented and demonstrates high level of initiative, problem solving, information seeking and eager to learn qualities.
Good digital and reporting skills, including everyday use of spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and project tracking tools.
Willingness to travel to customer sites in the UK and Nordics when applicable.
A degree in electrical or electronic engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience. Master’s degree in relevant engineering field or contract management will be advantageous.
Adequate understanding of Commercial & Contractual Terms & Conditions i.e., FIDIC, NEC3 and similar will be advantageous, as well as prior experience with GE products, systems or processes.
It would be helpful if you also have familiarity with contract terms commonly used in infrastructure or energy projects, knowledge of customer requirements in the UK or Nordic markets, or experience in grid automation tendering tools and processes. If not, you can grow these skills with us.
