Job Description
Our Service Engineering Lead Engineer - Infrastructure & Mechanical Systems is essential to the successful execution and enhancement of our systems. This role supports the systems engineering team by ensuring comprehensive understanding of civil and mechanical project requirements, accurate budget planning, and appropriate scope management to protect company interests while delivering valuable system solutions with excellent operational rigor.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Engineering Team Support:
Support the Service Engineering Manager and systems engineering team by providing expertise in civil and mechanical requirements assessment
Provide technical leadership, advice, and assistance to the systems engineering team regarding infrastructure and mechanical aspects of projects
Ensure systems engineering solutions properly account for civil and mechanical integration requirements
Requirements Analysis & Budget Protection:
Monitor, control, and manage service engineering project budgets with specific focus on infrastructure and mechanical scope definition and cost implications
Analyze customer requirements to ensure service solutions meet customer, contract, quality, and regulatory requirements while protecting company interests from scope creep
Plan and progress civil and mechanical aspects of service-related activities, including testing, commissioning, and upgrades for specific projects
Customer Interface & Scope Management:
Serve as technical advisor for customer interactions involving infrastructure and mechanical requirements
Translate customer issues/needs into appropriate civil and mechanical specifications while ensuring reasonable scope boundaries
Support contract negotiations and change management to prevent excessive customer demands on infrastructure and mechanical deliverables
Project Documentation & Risk Management:
Monitor project documentation, risk management processes, design reviews, and quality & change control systems specifically for infrastructure and mechanical aspects
Support improvement initiatives and 'cost out' plans by identifying opportunities to optimize civil and mechanical requirements
Ensure accurate specification and budgeting for infrastructure and mechanical components and services

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential Requirements: A mix of the following skills is preferred, and we understand not everyone will meet all of these requirements:
Infrastructure & Mechanical Engineering Background:
Experience in an engineering leadership environment, particularly in service roles with focus on infrastructure and mechanical systems
Experience in design and system integration working on complex multi-disciplinary projects involving civil, mechanical, and systems integration
Understanding of infrastructure and mechanical requirements for power system installations and facility infrastructure
Budget & Requirements Management:
Experience in managing project budgets with emphasis on infrastructure and mechanical scope definition and cost control
Customer-centric mindset, with experience in translating customer issues/needs into effective and appropriately scoped infrastructure and mechanical solutions
Experience in contract management and scope protection for engineering services
Technical Assessment Capabilities:
Experience in specifying infrastructure and mechanical components and understanding their integration with power systems
Knowledge of civil and mechanical aspects of power generation, industrial facilities, and system installations
Ability to multitask on various tasks within strict time scales while maintaining budget and scope discipline
Communication & Leadership Skills:
Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
Proven ability to support multi-disciplinary teams and provide technical guidance effectively
Experience in customer-facing roles with ability to manage expectations and scope boundaries
Educational Qualifications:
Minimum Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree with suitable industry experience in power systems or industrial facility projects
Preferred Professional Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Cost engineering or project controls certifications
Contract management training
