Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the Utility Worker I & II positions in Water Distribution . The Utility Worker I & II in Water Distribution reports to the Water Distribution Supervisor . The primary job duties of this position include:

  • Perform installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair work on the water distribution system

  • Operate a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools used in department projects.

  • Perform technical duties locating underground water assets in public streets, alleys, utility easements, and right-of-way using GIS maps.

  • Responsible for completing vehicle inspection forms and daily work logs.

  • Operate heavy equipment, including excavation equipment, backhoe, and vac truck

  • Subject to emergency call-out and must be able to work overtime, including nights, weekends, holidays, and be on stand-by as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The salary range shown is the minimum for Worker I and the maximum for Worker II. The range for each level is listed below the requirements.

Candidates for Utility Worker I must possess the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Up to 1 year of experience in a public sector water system or other mechanical or manufacturing equipment maintenance is desired but not required.

  • Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License permit with Tanker Endorsement at the time of hire, with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of hire.

  • Must possess ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution Certification within one year of hire

  • On-Call Rotation is a Requirement of this position

Pay Range for a Utility Worker I: $21.93 -$31.79

Candidates for Utility Worker II must possess the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1 year of experience in Private or Public Sector Water Distribution System to include related equipment maintenance, installation, and repair

  • Must possess a class A Arizona Commercial Driver's License with a tanker endorsement at the time of hire or promotion

  • Vocational or technical training in water distribution and related equipment operation, or a closely related field, is desired but not require

  • Must possess ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution Certification at the time of hire or promotion

  • On-Call Rotation is a Requirement of this position

Pay Range of a Utility Worker II: $25.45 - $36.90

Please note that, depending on experience and certifications, a candidate may be brought in as a Utility Worker II. The salary range listed in the posting is the minimum for a Utility Worker I and the maximum for a Utility Worker II. The pay range for each position is listed after each position's requirements above. This is a driving position, and a motor vehicle report will be run as part of our pre-employment process.

The first review of applications will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, and then every other Tuesday while the posting remains open.

This position is an At-Will position, FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.
