Why this Role Matters
The analytical chemist contributes to the Luxembourg Metrology organization by delivering reliable and accurate analytical data that supports product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance. By performing testing and building expertise across chromatographic, spectroscopic, thermal, and wet chemical techniques, the role ensures high-quality results while connecting routine laboratory operations with early-stage method development. Contributions to documentation, equipment maintenance, and cross-functional communication further support the organization’s commitment to strict safety and quality standards, reinforcing confidence in data and operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
Execute routine and semi-routine analytical tests using thermal analysis (TGA, DSC), spectroscopy (FTIR, Raman), combustion-based elemental analysis, and porosity measurements
Ensure accurate, repeatable, and safe operation of laboratory instruments while managing priorities effectively
Prepare and isolate samples following established methods and safety standards
Apply established analytical methods and contribute to incremental improvements under senior guidance
Assist in maintaining and updating methods’ documentation and records
Perform basic data analysis, validate results, identify anomalies, and document findings clearly
Support knowledge retention through structured documentation and record keeping
Participate in routine calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of analytical equipment
Collaborate with internal teams to meet analytical needs and communicate testing progress efficiently
What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Polymer/Materials Science, Physics, or a related field (with 3–5 years of relevant experience); or BTS/Associate degree plus directly relevant experience; or a Master’s degree
Experience operating and maintaining instruments such as TGA, DSC, FTIR, Raman, combustion-based elemental analyzers, and porosity analysis instruments; experience with GC, HPLC, or GPC is an asset
Familiarity with sample preparation workflows, standard laboratory documentation practices, and laboratory data management systems
Solid foundation in analytical chemistry principles and laboratory safety, with the ability to follow SOPs precisely
Developing proficiency in thermal analysis techniques, with basic interpretation of spectroscopic data and exposure to elemental analysis and porosimetry methods
Strong attention to detail, with reliable record keeping and clear technical report writing
Collaborative approach with effective communication across functions in an international environment, self-motivated, organized, curious, and methodical in problem-solving.
