We are seeking a dedicated Dry Utility Engineer to join our expanding civil engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to play a crucial role in developing our dry utility service offering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and managing utility projects while collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Attend design meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate permitting and timelines with local utility clients such as Verizon, Comcast, Pepco, Washington Gas, and SMECO.
Use AutoCAD to create conceptual design packages tailored to client specifications.
Incorporate client and internal QA corrections by making appropriate redlines to drawings.
Take field notes for upcoming projects.
Assist with project management tasks, including requesting information from clients, drawing review, permit coordination, and client/stakeholder reporting and coordination.
Manage small dry utility projects from start to finish.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating preliminary design prints for gas, electric, telecom, and fiber conceptual design packages.
Experience in permitting and coordinating with local utility providers.
Knowledge of Civil 3D, distribution design, power distribution, and telecom engineering.
Project management experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with additional software such as MicroStation, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to support other engineering groups, particularly in civil projects, if dry utility work is slow.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid schedule between our Germantown office and working from home. Flexible work hours are available for candidates who can communicate proactively and adhere to a consistent schedule they establish. Some core hours will be required to align with managerial schedules. Initially, the candidate should be available to work from the Germantown office four days per week until becoming a trusted employee.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Germantown, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
