Legal Secretary II - Public Defenders Office
Scotts Bluff County Public Defenders office is currently accepting applications for Legal Secretary II.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage attorney calendars, including court appearances, deadlines, and client meetings; - Prepare, format, and file pleadings and legal documents with the court (electronic and paper filing);
- Maintain and organize case files (physical and electronic);
- Answer phones and respond to client inquiries, relay messages to attorneys; schedule appointments, jail visits, and court hearings;
- Prepare routine correspondence and legal forms;
- Enter and update case information in case management systems;
- Coordinate document preparation for hearings and trials; handle incoming and outgoing mail, scanning, and records management;
- Maintain confidentiality of all clients and case information.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred;
Two (2) years of administrative experience, preferably in a legal or government setting;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic filing systems; Strong organizational and time-management skills;
Ability to manage high-volume workload with accuracy.
Must be able to pass criminal background check.
Position is available for Veterans Preference.
