Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Middleware & CI/CD Platform Engineer to drive the architecture, automation, and reliability of enterprise middleware platforms and delivery pipelines. This role combines deep middleware expertise with modern DevOps practices to enable secure, scalable, and highly automated application delivery across hybrid and cloud environments.
You will serve as a technical leader responsible for platform strategy, CI/CD standards, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Middleware Platform Ownership
Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise middleware platforms such as WebLogic, JBoss, WebSphere, Tomcat, Apache, MuleSoft, or similar
Lead platform modernization initiatives (containerization, cloud migration, performance tuning)
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability of middleware environments
Oversee patching, upgrades, security hardening, and compliance requirements
CI/CD & Automation Leadership
Design and govern enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines
Implement pipeline-as-code and reusable deployment frameworks
Standardize automated deployments across environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod)
Integrate DevSecOps practices (security scanning, policy enforcement)
Cloud & Containerization
Lead containerization of middleware-hosted applications using Docker & Kubernetes/OpenShift
Design deployment patterns for hybrid and multi-cloud environments (Azure)
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation
Observability & Reliability
Drive root cause analysis and performance optimization initiatives
Improve platform SLOs, uptime, and deployment success rates
Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with Dev, QA, Security, and Infrastructure teams to streamline release processes
Define middleware and CI/CD standards, governance, and documentation
Mentor engineers and lead knowledge-sharing initiatives
Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies
Required Technical Skills
8+ years of experience in middleware/platform engineering
Deep expertise in at least one enterprise middleware stack (WebLogic/JBoss/WebSphere/etc.)
Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
Proficiency in scripting/automation (Bash, Python, Groovy, PowerShell)
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration
Experience with artifact repositories (Nexus, Artifactory)
Solid understanding of networking, load balancing, SSL/TLS, DNS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Cloud & DevOps Tooling
Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, ARM, CloudFormation
Version Control: Git-based workflows
Security Scanning: Snyk, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Trivy, etc.
Secrets Management: Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault
Pay Transparency Laws in some locations require disclosure of compensation and/or benefits-related information. For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. In addition, Conduent provides a variety of benefits to employees including health insurance coverage, voluntary dental and vision programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) or vacation and/or sick time. The estimated salary range for this role is $85,500 - $111,000
