The Traffic Control Lead in Pavement Preservation is responsible for overseeing traffic management at roadway maintenance and preservation projects. This role ensures safe and efficient vehicle and pedestrian flow while minimizing disruption during pavement treatments such as chip sealing, slurry sealing, crack filling, and other preservation activities. The Traffic Control Lead supervises a team of traffic controllers, implements project-specific traffic plans, and ensures compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of traffic controllers on pavement preservation projects.

  • Develop, implement, and adjust traffic control plans specific to surface maintenance operations.

  • Coordinate with pavement preservation crews, project managers, and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Monitor traffic patterns and work zone safety, making real-time adjustments as needed.

  • Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies within the work zone.

  • Maintain accurate records of traffic control activities, work logs, and safety reports.

Requirements

  • Experience in traffic control, preferably in roadway maintenance or pavement preservation.

  • Knowledge of traffic laws, work zone signage, and pavement preservation operations.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to assess risks and adjust traffic control measures under dynamic work conditions.

  • Certifications in Traffic Control, Work Zone Safety, and First Aid are preferred.

  • Must be 21 years or older

  • Must have a Valid Drivers License
