Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to play a key role in deploying a new virtual safety system, enabling robots to operate without the need for physical barriers. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in robotics and a deep understanding of the automotive industry.
Responsibilities
Develop and integrate robotic systems using the Robot Operating System (ROS).
Implement and manage vision systems in manufacturing environments.
Lead innovative projects in a manufacturing setting.
Manage projects by writing detailed scopes of work, creating schedules, managing vendors/contractors, and providing status updates.
Utilize CAD/CAM engineering software for design and manufacturing purposes.
Analyze and interpret engineering drawings.
Install manufacturing equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 25% of the time.
Work overtime as needed, approximately 20% of the time.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the automotive industry.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics Engineering, or Robotics Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Hands-on experience with PLC programming and automation.
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Experience with machine vision systems deployment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Master's or PhD degree in controls, robotics, or mechatronics.
Experience in construction management and automotive manufacturing plants.
Project Management certification.
Familiarity with SAE/ISO, NFPA/NEC, and UL standards.
Experience with a variety of products such as Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, and others.
Experience conducting equipment risk assessments and securing project funding approvals.
Work Environment
The work environment is methodical, with an emphasis on securing project buy-in prior to commencement. Expect increased workloads around the 4th of July and Christmas shutdowns. The role includes rotational travel to both domestic and international locations, with opportunities for overtime. This position offers 10 PTO days and 9 paid holidays per calendar year. Overtime is compensated at time and a half, and travel expenses for contractors are covered.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
