Adient US LLC Controls Engineer 1st shift in Georgetown, Kentucky

JOB DESCRIPTIONSummaryWe are looking for a Controls Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance automation and control systems that are critical to our automotive seating production processes. The Controls Engineer role plays a key part in driving operational efficiency, troubleshooting system issues, and supporting continuous improvement in a high-paced manufacturing environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Support the maintenance department by assisting in the troubleshooting of equipment issues, which includes troubleshooting PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.- Maintain PLC documentation upon receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of PLC programs and machine controls drawings in an electronic and/or paper format and throughout facility.- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments and all other components associate with automated processes to meet production and safety goals.- Support various I/O devices connected to PLC's including HMI's, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, etc., and support/assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits.- Improve equipment uptime and contribute to Plant reliability maintenance.- Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on set schedule and develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.- Ability to diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.- Applies knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to determine equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.- Implement and maintain data collection system from Plant floor processing equipment.- Ability to engineer and implement error-proofing systems throughout the production process.- Part of multi-disciplinary Plant Team to determine continuous improvement strategies.- Identify and plan for process impact(s) as a result of engineering and launch changes.- Participate in 8D or similar root-cause based problem solving tasks to ensure that abnormalities, when observed, are acted upon to resolve root-causes.- Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases, which include review and commentary on equipment controls drawings prior to build approval.- Complete all required and applicable training required by Adient and its customers.- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.- 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on PLC programming and troubleshooting.- Strong proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs is required; experience with additional PLC platforms is a plus.- Automotive and Just-In-Time (JIT) experience is highly preferred.PRIMARY LOCATIONFoamechAdient is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to r ace, color, r eligion, s ex, national origin, age, protected veteran status, status as a qualified individual with a disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
