Job Title: Automation Engineering Technician

Job Description

Join a dynamic team supporting the Production Engineering Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering Battery Pack Assembly group's equipment development. You will collaborate with North American Manufacturing Centers (NAMCs) and global teams to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Support equipment specification development to ensure compliance with standards.

  • Conduct equipment machine risk assessments and confirm safety compliance.

  • Perform equipment checks for safety, electrical, and mechanical design confirmations.

  • Verify the safety interlocks of equipment, conveyor, and logistics hardware for individual cells and zones.

  • Participate in equipment confirmations at vendor buy-off trials and larger zone trials.

  • Adjust equipment to meet safety, quality, and productivity targets.

  • Travel to vendors and NAMCs in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Japan for support and collaboration.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting with Omron, Siemens, or similar systems.

  • Experience with robotics and controls, including Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Kawasaki, and FANUC.

  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

  • 2 years of experience in PLC programming.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-year associate's degree in a technical field, completion of a trade school, or 3+ years of relevant technical experience.

  • Experience with manufacturing equipment procurement and installation.

  • Familiarity with vision systems, AMRs, AGVs, and AGV traffic control systems.

  • Self-motivated and flexible to work with different teams, travel, and overtime.

Work Environment

This role is based in Georgetown, KY, and requires 100% on-site presence. Working hours are either 7 AM to 4 PM or 8 AM to 5 PM local time. Travel up to 50% during peak times is required, both domestically and internationally, with trips lasting from one week to a month. Overtime is expected at 25%, including weekends as needed. Candidates must have their own steel toe shoes and safety glasses, with other PPE provided. The position offers a stable, long-term contract with opportunities for growth and learning in a supportive work environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
