Position Summary

The Ella Cline Shear School of Education invites applications for the position of Director of

Assessment and Accreditation. The Director will manage the overall assessment, reporting and

continuous improvement initiatives for educator preparation accreditation, with specific attention

to the preparation and maintenance of national and state accreditation processes and procedures

(e.g., AAQEP ), including quality assurance and continuous improvement procedures for

teacher education at SUNY Geneseo. Coordinate the development, implementation, review, and

communication of these core functions with the Dean of the School of Education,

faculty, and professional program staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, social sciences, data analytics, or related field.

  • Experience in data collection, analysis, summary, and stakeholder communications.

  • Ability to handle complex tasks and think creatively, holistically, and systematically with attention to detail, ability to develop, implement, and utilize feedback in the development of information systems; integrate, and utilize technology systems

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate assessment outcomes to internal and external stakeholders with varying degrees of proficiency in assessment and data analysis.

  • Strong skills in collaboration and communication as a member of a strategic team with multiple stakeholders

  • Evidence of professional judgment and discretion.

  • Commitment to the college’s values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about teacher education issues, including assessment, accreditation, academic program review, professional dispositions, and continuous improvement.

  • Direct experience with teacher education.

  • Direct experience with teacher education accreditation, including a deep knowledge of accreditation standards, procedures, and processes.

The person in this position will meet regularly with the Dean of the School of Education to monitor progress, but must work independently and collaboratively with a variety of staff and faculty members in the college.

Job Duty/ Responsibility

Function 1: Manage the accreditation process for all SOE certification programs

  •  Serve as primary writer for all self-study and annual reports to the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation ( AAQEP ).

  • Responsible for mapping out timelines, requesting information and data with deadlines, and structuring the format of the report.

  • Serve as the primary contact with AAQEP , coordinate site visit logistics, and communicate accreditation information and status to relevant internal and external stakeholders, in collaboration with the Dean.

  • Responsible for meeting goals and commitments set by AAQEP .

  • Manage accreditation-related assessments for certification programs.

  • Facilitate the organization of data for use in accreditation.

  • Design and facilitate assessments from external stakeholders (e.g., alumni, employers, P-12 students), seeking IRB approval when necessary.

  • Submit all budget requests related to AAQEP , accreditation, and assessment.

  • Serve as subject matter expert within the School of Education for both AAQEP accreditation and assessment.

  • Provide training to those involved in accreditation

  • activities, including the development and evaluation of program assessments and outcomes,, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

    Function 2: Manage teacher education quality assurance and improvement

  • Maintain assessment cycle for the School of Education ( SOE )

to ensure data are collected, analyzed, and shared with internal and external stakeholders.

Provide data reports at each program committee meeting, based on the assessment cycle,

including national standardized tests ( NYSTCE ), key assessments, admission and retention, content and pedagogical content; knowledge and skills, dispositions, planning and assessing instruction, clinical experiences, and monitoring individual student and demographic, data, and the effectiveness of program completers. Help to identify trends, propose needed adjustments to existing curricula, assessments, data sources and activities, and any new initiatives for strategic needs and priorities. Plan and facilitate an annual data retreat for faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, in coordination with the Dean.

  • Full responsibility for the design, implementation, and maintenance of a centralized

system of data collection, management, and analyses for continuous improvement and

managing all information contained. Work with faculty and external stakeholders to

facilitate and conduct validity and reliability of assessments. Work closely with

Watermark to utilize Taskstream and/or Student Learning and Licensure while providing

a cost-savings for students. Coordinate with the Office of Field Experiences to ensure that

student teaching Directed Response Folios (DRFs) are updated and that students,

supervisors, and cooperating teachers are properly trained. Collaborate with the Director

of Field Experience to maintain detailed and comprehensive records on field experience

placements. Manage the Alumni LinkedIn page to enhance engagement and continuous

improvement in the School of Education.

  • Cultivate, maintain, and strengthen a culture of assessment. Increase assessment

awareness across SOE programs, institutional partners (i.e., TECC and TEAG ), and

external stakeholders by sharing information, priorities, and changes generated by

assessment activity.

  • Update the SOE assessment handbook and position manual,

responding to internal and external changes and developments. Develop internal

guidelines and procedures around data and assessment in the School of Education.

Support the design, implementation, and use of other assessment reporting tools in active

support of all programs and initiatives.

Function 3: Pursue professional development

  • Actively pursue and engage in relevant professional development activities (i.e.,

conferences, workshops, contacts with colleagues) related to assessment and

accreditation within teacher education. Attend AAQEP and SUNY Educator Preparation

Program Assessment Consortium ( EPPAC ) meetings, communicate assessment and

accreditation updates, and act as a resource for accreditation to the SOE .

Serve as faculty of record for EDUC 102. Responsible for planning and

facilitating course, in coordination with other instructors.

  • Regularly communicate with the SOE Dean, faculty, and staff regarding accreditation and

assessment data and information requests. Serve as a member of the SOE administrative

team, the Executive Committee, and the School of Education faculty/staff

meetings. Attend other committee meetings as appropriate and required. Serve as a

representative on the School-level and College-level search committees.

  • Provide training to those involved in accreditation activities, including the development and evaluation of key assessments, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
