Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Project Director – PMO to lead and govern large-scale Hybrid Renewable Energy Projects (Solar, Wind, BESS) with integrated Power Transmission & Substation infrastructure up to 400kV / 765kV grid evacuation.
This role will drive end-to-end project delivery excellence from development and engineering through construction, commissioning, and close-out ensuring alignment with AECOM’s global standards on schedule, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability.
The position requires leadership of a centralized PMO function supporting multi-GW portfolios across India and international markets, enabling standardized delivery frameworks, digital adoption, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Governance & Project Oversight
Establish and institutionalize PMO frameworks, governance models, and delivery standards across hybrid renewable and EHV T&D projects
Provide executive oversight across the project lifecycle (development → engineering → procurement → construction → commissioning → handover)
Drive adherence to baseline schedules, cost controls, risk thresholds, and quality benchmarks
Implement integrated project reporting systems covering KPIs, progress tracking, risk registers, and portfolio dashboards
Ensure alignment with AECOM’s global delivery models and Enterprise Capabilities (EC) workshare strategy
Hybrid Renewable & Grid Integration Leadership
Lead execution of utility-scale hybrid projects (Solar + Wind + BESS) including grid compliance and dispatch optimization
Oversee design and execution of EHV substations and transmission systems (up to 765kV) including evacuation planning, interconnection studies, and grid synchronization
Ensure technical integrity across disciplines electrical, civil, mechanical, fire safety protection systems, SCADA, and energy management systems (EMS)
Drive coordination between generation assets and evacuation infrastructure to ensure seamless integration
Project Controls, Risk & Commercial Management
Establish robust project controls covering planning, cost engineering, forecasting, and change management
Lead risk identification, quantitative/qualitative assessment, and mitigation planning across all project phases
Oversee CAPEX/OPEX planning, budget utilization, and financial performance in coordination with business leadership
Ensure contractual compliance across EPC, OEM, and consultant interfaces
Regulatory & Compliance Leadership
Ensure compliance with Indian grid codes, CEA/CERC regulations, and international standards
Guide permitting, approvals, and statutory clearances for renewable and transmission infrastructure
Integrate ESG, environmental, and safety requirements into project execution strategies
Digital Transformation & Continuous Improvement
Drive adoption of digital PMO tools, data analytics, and automation for enhanced decision-making
Standardize processes, templates, and best practices across global project portfolios
Lead lessons-learned programs and institutional knowledge capture (BP&LL)
Promote innovation in engineering, construction methodologies, and delivery models
Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as senior interface with clients, developers, utilities, regulators, and consortium partners
Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through proactive engagement and transparent communication
Support business development through technical advisory, bid strategy, and project structuring inputs
People & Leadership
Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams across geographies, fostering a high-performance culture
Drive capability development, succession planning, and resource optimization
Manage organizational change and promote collaboration across global delivery centers
Business & Commercial Focus
Deliver projects in line with financial targets, margin expectations, and utilization metrics
Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization
Contribute to strategic growth of AECOM’s Energy portfolio in India and globally
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred); Master’s degree advantageous
Chartered Engineer (CEng) / Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent preferred
PMP/PgMP or equivalent project management certification is desirable
Minimum 20+ years of experience in large-scale infrastructure and energy projects
Experience Requirements
Demonstrated leadership in Hybrid Renewable Projects (Solar/Wind/BESS) with grid integration
Proven experience in EHV Substations and Transmission Systems up to 400kV / 765kV
Track record of delivering 2–3 GW+ portfolio across India and/or international markets
Strong familiarity with Indian regulatory frameworks, grid connectivity, and permitting processes
Experience in EPC/PMC/Owner’s Engineer roles for complex energy infrastructure
