Description

The Engineering Academic & Student Affairs office, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (non-tenure accruing) faculty position in one of the following titles: lecturer, senior lecturer, instructional assistant professor, instructional associate professor, instructional professor, or professor of the practice. The title and rank will depend on background, qualifications, and experience. This position is a 9-month, full-time appointment at the Texas A&M Galveston campus with appointment beginning August 1, 2026. The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level and provide support for the development of the General Engineering (first-year) undergraduate program and curriculum; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. The successful applicant will be responsible for the organization, delivery, evaluation and assessment of the engineering courses and student outcomes associated with those courses and serve as a liaison between College Station and Galveston engineering programs. The engineering courses include, but may not be limited to, introductory engineering; programming; statics and dynamics; mechanics and electricity & magnetism. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

· Promote multidisciplinary academic experiences for all college of engineering students, especially during the first year.

· Offer programs and support services to strengthen lifelong learning skills necessary for student success.

· Develop strategic partnerships for recruiting outstanding students.

· Provide opportunities for college of engineering students to become global leaders.

Texas A&M University at Galveston is an ocean-oriented branch campus of Texas A&M University which educates over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students in a unique blend of marine and maritime programs and also serves as a remote learning site for the College of Engineering. Texas A&M University at Galveston is ideally located in Galveston, Texas, on the Gulf Coast where it is surrounded by the industry, environment, and programs essential to fulfilling its special-purpose mission. There are multiple College of Engineering programs on the Galveston campus including Computer Science, Interdisciplinary Engineering, and Ocean Engineering. Students who choose to study engineering at the Texas A&M Galveston campus are Texas A&M Engineering students. Students may choose to start as general engineering students or may elect to be directly admitted into one of the four-year degree engineering programs offered on the Galveston campus. General engineering students may choose to stay at the Galveston campus and earn their engineering B.S. in one of the previously mentioned degrees, or they may choose to apply to an engineering major offered in College Station after their first year. These talented students will be enrolled in Texas A&M engineering courses, taught by Texas A&M faculty, earning a Texas A&M degree, all while being able to remain on the Galveston campus.

Qualifications

For appointment at the Professor of the Practice level, applicants must have either:

• A master’s degree in an appropriate field (a closely related engineering or science discipline) and significant college-level teaching experience in that field or a related discipline;

  OR

• An extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting

In addition, applicants must have at least 15 years of experience as a practicing engineer.

For appointments at the Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, or Instructional Professor level, applicants must have a doctoral degree in a closely related engineering or science discipline appropriate for the field in which the faculty member will teach. Teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field is preferred. There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.

For appointments at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, applicants must have a doctoral or master’s degree in a closely related engineering or science discipline for the field in which the faculty member will teach. Significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or a related field is required for master’s degree applicants.
