CITY OF GALION Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent in Galion, Ohio
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under administrative direction, plans, schedules, organizes and directs Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sewer Collection and Stormwater operations; supervises and provides training for employees; ensures compliance with testing and reporting requirements; oversees MS4 program; oversees industrial pre-treatment program; performs other related duties as required. Serves as Operator of Record with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
QUALIFICATIONS: (course work, training, work experience, or equivalent combination)
Minimum of five years' experience preferred. Completion of secondary education with training and extensive experience in wastewater treatment plant operation and maintenance and supervision or post-secondary education in engineering, biology, etc., or equivalent combination; familiarity with wastewater/water reclamation operations and requirements; familiarity with OSHA requirements; MS4 and Industrial Pretreatment knowledge preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Ohio Class III Wastewater/Water Reclamation License at time of hire. EPA laboratory operator certification required within 60 days of hire.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Per ordinance 2026-21, salary range is $47,693 -- $126,741. In keeping with our municipal compensation practices, placement within the range will be based on qualifications and experience. Most appointments should expect to fall within the mid/upper $90,000 range. Full benefits package is also offered, including health, vision, dental and life insurance and pension pickup. This is a M-F, first shift position. Some holidays will be required.
