Join a leading construction team as a Safety Specialist committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality on high-profile commercial projects. This role requires a dedicated professional to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and site-specific plans while actively engaging with project teams and trade partners.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the project's safety guidelines, site-specific safety plans, and any client-specific safety requirements.
Coordinate with the regional safety lead to ensure availability of necessary safety signage and PPE.
Verify that all personnel scheduled to work on-site have completed the required safety orientation training.
Gather and organize safety documentation from subcontractors and trade partners, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and High-Risk Activity Plans.
Conduct at least one safety audit per day using the designated digital platform, including annotated photos.
Share audit findings and corrective actions with the project team to ensure visibility and timely resolution.
Submit a minimum of two Safety Observation Reports (SORs) per week.
Spend 60–70% of your time in the field engaging with crews and monitoring safety practices.
Attend and contribute to daily huddles, coordination meetings, foremen’s meetings, and preconstruction meetings.
Lead or support weekly all-hands safety meetings, including preparation of materials and attendance tracking.
Spot-check safety documentation during site visits and review safety records.
Notify the project team and regional safety lead of any incidents or near-misses immediately.
Assist in incident investigations and review reports prior to submission.
Create a 'Lessons Learned' summary for each incident or near miss.
Conduct site-specific safety orientations for all trade partners.
Maintain regular communication with subcontractor safety representatives.
Participate in or lead planning meetings for high-risk activities.
Maintain clear and frequent communication with the project team, safety leadership, and trade partners.

Essential Skills
Must possess safety certifications such as CHST or CSP.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3–7 years of safety experience is acceptable.
Prior experience supporting data center construction projects is strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills across all levels of project teams.
Reliable, proactive, and able to support and align with the project schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in commercial building construction.
Proven ability to work on sites requiring a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Work Environment
This position requires flexibility and punctuality, with start times as early as 5:00 or 6:00 AM, and involves working 40-50 hours per week. The role is primarily field-based, with 70% of time spent on-site and the remainder in the office. The workplace is located in Gainesville, VA, and demands adherence to a strong safety-first culture. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
