Aerotek Superintendent in Gainesville, Florida

Position Overview The Construction Superintendent will oversee all on‑site operations for the construction and specialized build‑out of a commercial cannabis cultivation facility. This role ensures the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with state cannabis regulations, local building codes, and industry‑specific environmental and security requirements. The Superintendent will coordinate daily site activities, manage subcontractors, and serve as the primary on‑site leader throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities Project Oversight & Execution Lead day‑to‑day on‑site construction activities for a cannabis grow facility, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and cultivation‑specific systems. Maintain the project schedule and coordinate trade sequencing to meet milestones. Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, quality, and safety. Ensure all work complies with architectural plans, engineering specifications, and cannabis‑industry requirements such as environmental controls and security infrastructure.

Subcontractor Management Directly manage all subcontractors, including scheduling, task assignments, performance oversight, and conflict resolution. Verify subcontractor work quality, adherence to plans, and compliance with safety standards. Hold subcontractors accountable for timelines, workmanship, and documentation. Coordinate specialized vendors installing cultivation systems such as: Environmental controls (HVACD, dehumidification, CO₂) Grow lighting systems (LED, HPS, automated controls) Irrigation and fertigation systems Security systems (access control, surveillance)

Coordination & Communication Serve as the primary on‑site point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory officials. Lead daily or weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors and trades. Communicate project updates, risks, and schedule impacts to the Project Manager and ownership team.

Compliance & Documentation Ensure construction activities meet all state cannabis regulations, including facility layout, sanitation, and security requirements. Coordinate inspections with local authorities, fire marshals, and cannabis regulatory agencies. Maintain accurate daily logs, site reports, safety documentation, and change order records.

Quality & Safety Management Enforce strict adherence to OSHA standards and company safety protocols. Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings with subcontractors. Identify and resolve quality issues proactively.

Budget & Resource Management Monitor labor, materials, and equipment usage to prevent cost overruns. Review subcontractor invoices and verify work completion before approval. Identify value‑engineering opportunities without compromising compliance or facility performance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
