Position Purpose

Mechanical Integrator I is tasked with making multiple elements work together as one cohesive system. A key technical role, an integrator also has essential responsibilities in project coordination, especially focused on project sites around the world. As the final step in the project process, integration is key to high-quality delivery before system handover to the client. An integrator exists on the uniquely TAIT line between technology and art, helping to create the best shows and spectacles in the world. The mechanical integrator will install, commission and maintain mechanical systems and equipment for TAIT’s client base as well as providing on-site technical support and guidance.

Within the Japan region, the role will support key touring productions and one-off live events in region.

Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Coordinates integration of disparate elements into one cohesive project.

  • Part of installation team, ultimately implementing technology on site for the customer.

  • Fulfills shop testing and setup responsibilities, especially for complex elements.

  • Communicates frequently with the rest of the project team about tasks and risks.

  • Maintains a basic understanding of all integration-related technical fields.

  • Works closely with service & support on post-project work.

  • Promotes and contributes to internal standards and processes.

  • Play a key role in the testing and adjustment of mechanical systems

  • Stays well organized and pays close attention to details.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.

  • Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.

  • Act as a key point of contact for client enquiries and provide mechanical support to a variety of projects

  • Perform mechanical tasks on a variety of staging / rigging equipment in order to ensure that TAIT’s products are able to meet the desired specifications as outlined by the client

  • Assist with the assembly and disassembly of on-site custom show-built elements

  • Be actively involved in setting up-staging and mechanical equipment, ensuring that all TAIT Health and Safety policies and procedures are met at all times

  • Project Management of certain tasks

  • Liaising directly with TAIT customers and clients, ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction

  • Prepare equipment ready to be installed on site in areas such as performing arts venues, theme parks, location-based experiences and cruise ships

  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Qualifications and Experience

To successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the role, individuals must possess the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination.In addition, the role requires the following certifications, knowledge, skills, and where applicable, physical requirements necessary for the position.

  • Formal Technical Background - essential

  • Theater/Entertainment Experience - preferred

Experience - Knowledge and Skills:

To successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the role, individuals must possess the following level of knowledge and experience, or equivalent combination. In addition, the role requires the following certifications, knowledge, skills, and where applicable, physical requirements necessary for the position.

  • 2+ years’/demonstrable experience as an Associate Integrator or similar external or TAIT role

  • Experience working within a mechanical technician capacity or equivalent

  • Understanding of mechanical principles and ability to read technical manuals, schematics and drawings

  • Basic electrical knowledge

  • Fluency in Japanese - essential

  • Proficiency in English to a working level - preferred

  • Ability to work in entertainment conditions

  • Strong written skills

  • Understanding of winching and lifting machinery - Desirable
