Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated candidate for its Adjunct Instructor - Biology (Part-Time) position within the Health and Public Safety Technologies Division of Academic and Student Affairs. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s Main campus, just South of downtown Atlanta, Ga.

Under general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technologies , the Adjunct Instructor - Biology (Part-Time) teaches within the Bioscience Technology Program delivering high - quality instruction and skills-based training. This position requires passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students plus excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated commitment to the college mission. This role requires a dedicated individual able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

· Develop, teach, and implement related lecture and laboratory life science courses and other teaching assignments as needed.

· Assist with development and review of program and syllabi, goals and objectives according to approved curriculum and course syllabi standards.

· Evaluate and review students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.

· Demonstrate and ensure the use of appropriate and effective teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures (including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements).

· Maintain and review classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.

· Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

· Demonstrates knowledge of current practices in the related fields.

· Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

· Advise and counsel students, providing academic guidance and maintaining appropriate advisement records, documentation, and all required administrative reports for each student.

· Maintain and review program certification requirements, as appropriate.

· Serves on departmental and college committees, councils, and curriculum development teams; assists with course coordination and provides academic counseling and guidance to students.

· Attend meetings as required and appropriate.

· Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations and follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and institutional policies and procedures.

· Participates in college and community outreach and community service activities consistent with the mission of Atlanta Technical College and the Technical College System of Georgia, including commencement and convocation activities and special college meetings.

· Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual; and

· Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

· Master's Degree in Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Bioscience, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Environmental Biology or related area

· At least Three (3) years related work experience in the biological sciences and documented evidence of classroom, laboratory instruction or industry experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:

· Doctorate Degree in Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Bioscience, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Environmental Biology or related areas.

· At least 18 semester graduate hours in Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, or a related area.

· At least Five (5) years related work experience in biology or other related life sciences experience and documented evidence of classroom, laboratory instruction or industry experience.
