Job Title: Addictive Diseases Recovery Support Program Specialist- Atlanta Pay Grade: L Workplace: Hybrid- one day per week in office Travel: 30% of the time Job Summary:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Addictive Diseases, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Addictive Diseases Recovery Support Program Specialist.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Substance Disorders Initiative, the Recovery Support Program Specialist will oversee the development and on-going coordination of Recovery Support Services under the department statewide.

The current structure of the Department includes six BDHDD (6) regions, and various Addictive Disease community providers across the 159 counties of the state. The position requires travel to Addiction Recovery Support Centers to conduct site visits. This position will sometimes require interaction with elected officials and the top management staff of the Department. The position requires the qualified candidate to provide guidance, consultation and technical assistance to regions and service providers to ensure program quality.

Additional duties include:

  • Analyze the operational impact of legislative and executive initiatives.

  • Prepare, implement, and monitor contract deliverables.

  • Prepares regular and timely progress reports for the Director of Substance Use Disorder Initiative relevant to expenditures, allocations of funds, compliance, and other matters relevant to the allocation of State and Federal Funds.

  • Represent the agency to outside entities.

    · Provide guidance and technical support to community providers to ensure program quality.

  • Work with the Director of Substance Use Disorders Initiative and the Director of Office of Recovery Transformation to develop and implement goals and plans to accomplish department objectives as related to specific legislative agendas on addiction and recovery.

  • Work to ensure that external partners contracted with to provide TA and or trainings align with department goals and objectives as it relates to addiction and recovery.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    · Demonstrated ability to complete tasks and assignments independently or with minimal oversight.

    · Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, incorporate and/or provide feedback for improvement.

    · Knowledge of state, federal and professional standards relevant to the DBHDD programs, services, and operations.

    · Demonstrated knowledge of addictive diseases programs and recovery support services

    Preferred Qualifications

    Can be a CARES certified (Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist), but not a requirement.

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least two years of experience of working with adult/adolescent in recovery or working toward recovery lifestyle from the use substance use disorders and/or serious emotional disturbance.

    High school diploma/GED and completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university and four (4) years of job-related experience; or two (2) years experience required at the lower level Planner 2 (GSP051) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
