Description:
TEAM LEAD RESPIRATORY CARE:
Serve as a charge person, making assignments and overseeing RT's throughout the shift. Serve as liaison between the ED, floors and adult critical care areas and the RT dept.
Have working knowledge of all equipment utilized relative to RT. Able to precept and teach new employees and acclimate to the role.
Work with all RT’s to provide continuous quality care to patients in all areas.
Perform and maintain competency for endotracheal intubation. Work with and precept new Resident physicians
Maintain ACLS , BLS and PALS certification.
Assure that required staff competencies are completed.
Assure proper daily coverage for all intensive care units
Assure the training of new therapists in the intensive care units
Review policies and procedures annually for appropriateness and accuracy
Maintain equipment and supply par levels in each area
Offer hands on workshop bi-annually on topic of choice; mechanical ventilation, Bipap-Cpap, EtCO2, CXR, Trach care, PMV, ABG etc.
Work with nursing educators to provide continuous staff education to enhance interdepartmental relations to ensure quality patient care.
Enlist Intensivists and or other physicians to provide yearly CEU offering.
Keep abreast of latest technology, evaluate new products and report to leadership team.
Strategize with leadership team to ensure that all RT care areas are up to date with community standards.
Meet regularly with RT leadership team to discuss issues relative to respiratory care.
Attend monthly meetings
Attend monthly critical care advisory committee meeting
Attend monthly department meeting
Work closely with Bio med to keep equipment running smoothly and available for use.
Collect and submit monthly KPI data prior to monthly medical directors meeting.
Act as relief supervisor when necessary
This is a day shift position, 7a-7p.
Administers respiratory care to all patients in accordance with physicians’ orders. To include mechanical ventilation, airway management and blood gas procedures.
Provides direct patient care to all pediatric and adult patients.
Acts as relief supervisor as necessary.
Takes leadership role in a specialty area.
Functions as a team leader and clinical resource person for a specialty area
Provides or establishes inservice education relative to the area of specialty as requested annually.
Functions as a clinical resource person within the scope of practice and education as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Accomplished goals and objectives set by Team Leader and management team.
Assures annual competencies are completed relative to area of specialty.
Reviews policies annually relative to area of specialty.
Stays abreast of national trends/changes relative to area of specialty.
LICENSURE:
Current State of Florida License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the Departmentof Health.
BLS certification required. ACLS required if assisting with diagnostic bronchoscopies
