Lead Lab Technician

Job Description

The Group Lead will lead the team in advanced laboratory tasks, including complex sample analysis, method development, and project management. This role involves mentoring junior technicians and ensuring high-quality results in all laboratory activities. The Group Lead will play a key role in driving innovation and continuous improvement within the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced sample analysis using specialized techniques.

  • Develop new methods and protocols for laboratory procedures.

  • Manage research projects and ensure timely completion.

  • Mentor junior technicians and provide training.

  • Coordinate tasks and technicians to ensure timely and accurate completion.

  • Ensure high-quality results in all laboratory activities.

  • Stay updated with advancements in the field and integrate new techniques.

  • Troubleshoot equipment as necessary.

  • Oversee laboratory safety and compliance with regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or equivalent experience.

  • Extensive experience in advanced laboratory techniques.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

  • Track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with specific laboratory techniques such as Phosphotase, DMSCC, TKN/NPN/NCN, Mojo Execution, Acid Hydrolysis, WPN, Aflatoxin, Pesticide Prep, and Pesticide Extraction.

  • Flexibility to participate in meetings across various time zones.

  • Ability to work extended hours to meet client deliverable timelines.

Work Environment

The position is non-exempt with varied shifts. The work environment is a laboratory setting with an average temperature of 20°C and moderate noise levels. Employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment. The role requires 80% focus on lab work and 20% on organizing worklists for the team. Physical requirements include occasional lifting up to 70 lbs, standing, walking, and sitting. The position requires adequate hearing acuity and specific vision capabilities such as close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fresno, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
