Job: Senior Operator
Shift: 223 Days 6AM-6:30PM
Location: Royal Canin (Fremont, NE)
The Senior Operator supports line manager as the back up to role when absent in ensuring reporting team has appropriate direction in management of complete scope of role. Senior operator are system experts in their assigned area and are highly functional in multiple areas. Senior operator must also ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and continuous improvement. Functions as a member of an area team which is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. Operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. Senior operator must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. This role provides necessary focus on area support systems such as inventory, management of materials, productions schedules, waste reduction, usage and yield, sanitation, technology upgrades and staffing.
What are we looking for?
High school degree or equivalent
1 -3 years experience in food manufacturing industry
Must be able to adapt to a flexible working schedule, including different rotations. Shifts, overtime hours, weekends and holidays
Analytical and problem solving skills
High interpersonal and communication skills
What will be your key responsibilities?
Active approach to work safety and creating a safe work environment
Provide input and making quality decisions for non-compliant products in accordance with applicable procedures and specifications
Performs all assigned activities & job tasks within a line or area
Able to perform any departmental role in the factory including sanitation lead, receiving lead, packaging lead, processing roles and fill in for line manager.
Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Ensures Quality is at the forefront in decision making process
Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level
Able to assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments, and malfunction troubleshooting
Perform and works with Maintenance to complete equipment PM’s
Able to maintain accurate records of QC checks, production numbers or waste performance
Keeps detailed log books: Performs all shift support documentation in a quality matter
High degree of ownership for product quality: Performs all standard quality checks & other quality related duties.
Able to operate a forklift and shag truck
Able to operate a computer and utilize the basic standard desktop systems
Understands principles of inventory control
Has knowledge of the plant’s products and goods
Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions
Has general knowledge of Mars & the systems used by the business.
Ensure conformance of GMP/GHP, MSE, quality and safety standards.
Provide leadership and coordination for full shift or multiple process areas, often without a production supervisor assigned. Responsible for understanding safe and efficient operations of all petfood manufacturing equipment.
SAFETY:
All personal protective equipment should be worn in accordance with legal requirements as well as RC requirements
Enforcement / Compliance with security policies and internal policies
Stopping equipment / operational work / external company work in the event of breach of safety / environmental protection / fire protection rules

Quality and safety:
Support in the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the quality management system based on ISO 9001, ISO 22000, Mars Standards
Ensure compliance to CCPs and oPRPs in the department
Ensure the accuracy of all records and be prepared for internal and external audits
When necessary, manage non-conformities (decide, put on hold, isolate, destruct, derogate), analyze for root causes and undertake correctives action
TRAINING AND COMMUNICATION
- Support and/or conducting, as required, internal training
